Insurance Complaint against: Selective Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance
- PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Service
- PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
- PolicyHolder Service - Abusive Service
- PolicyHolder Service - Unfair Negotiation
- Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
- General - I feel abused by this company
Initially, a selective agent sent a contractor who did minimal initial work and never return.
As I did not hear from the company, I organized and presented two estimates to repair our garage. The Selective agent in charge of my case quickly settled the claim base on a far lowest estimate.
I thought that I was responsible up to my deductible of $1000.00 and the rest will be taken care by the insurance company, however, the way Selective is trying to settle the claim is by issuing a check based in the lowest estimate available minus deductible and does it!....

Insurance Complaint against: John Hancock Insurance
Coverage Type: Disability Insurance
- Underwriting - Premium Too High
I assume that a Long Term Life Insurance would fall into the catagory of Disability Insurance. Perhaps it is my own fault for not realizing that my Long Term Insurance was some what like an auto inurance. No cash value, you don't use it, you loose it but need to continue paying monthly premium.
Now that I need this insurance, I find that there were some clause I did not know about. I was told that there was a 100 days deductable period before the insurance company starts to pay the institution. It was my understanding that the first three months of care would be covered by MEDICARE. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. MEDICARE WOULD ONLY PAY FOR THE FIRST 100 DAYS IF THE PATIENT IS CONFINED INTO A SKILL NURSING FACILITY, NOT A NURSING HOME OR HOME CARE SERVICES. In other words, it is out of pocket money to pay for the first 100 days for other facilites such as ASSISTING LIVING. Where or how am I going to get $17,000 to $20,000 when I have no savings and only have my retirement pension and social security income. Let this be a warning to the baby boomers, there are other insurance companies who has better policy such as cash value and get something in return for your beneiciay if you die before you use the insurance money....

28 Nov 2012
Several months ago I took my vehicle off the road. I have decided not to put the money into the repairs required to get it running properly. I have been paying my insurance for six months in advance (taken directly from my bank account every s months) and it was due to be renewed in November. I called on the 1st of November and cancelled the policy. I was told that the money was going to be automaticly deducted on the third but that it would be returned in 5-7 days. I wasn't returned. When I called to inquire why I was told I would be returned in 7-10 business days. It wasn't returned. I again called to find out why and was told it was returned and that the bank put a hold on it. Of course i checked with the bank and was told they didn't receive the money. and since it was supposed to be deposited directly into my account there would not be a hold put on it. I called the insurance company again and was told again the money would be deposited in 7-10 business days. Of course it wasn't. I called the insurance company again today (Nov28)And told them I was going to notify your office and also file a claim against them in Small Claims Court. They again told me the money was deposited and there is probably a hol...

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Business Insurance
- Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I have carried business liability insurance for many years with State Farm, as per the terms of my office lease and have never filed a claim. When Hurricane Sandy left my building without power for a prolonged period, I filed a loss of income claim with State Farm, which the policy offered.
On November 15, 2012, I received a call from Claim Representative Vicki King, who asked me questions about damage to the building incurred by the storm. It was clear to me that she was attempting to extract information that would mitigate the claim and I told her quite honestly that I had no information to provide as mine is a four-story building with many offices within. I referred her to a building representative, who later told me that his experience with Ms. King was similar to mine, i.e., she asked him questions about damage to the building incurred by the storm.
Although the representative told Ms. King that the chain link fencing separating the building from an adjacent lot had been destroyed, he could not verify that the building had incurred structural damage. On this basis, my claim was denied and I was left with a significant loss of income. A subsequent conversation with a Mr. Chuck Armstrong was equally futile and, to add i...

I was Forced to transfer from Citizens Ins. To Southern Oak Ins. Company by means of just a letter that my policy was sent to them by Citizens Ins. I tried to explain that I do not want the coverage and wanted to stay with Citizens Ins. That request was denied and a bill was sent to my mortgage servicer which was paid without my permission. When I questioned the mortgage company the response I got was that I needed Insurance coverage and it was paid, I tried to Explain that the premium for the same coverage was doubled, but no one would listen. I would like to know what my options are. Thank You....

Insurance Complaint against: GMAC Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle
- PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
- General - I feel abused by this company
I have been with John Guthrie Ins. Services for about ten years. We found a cheaper ins., so we switched to it. I had paid GMAC the full amount for the six mos. I cancelled my policy with them on 11/07/12 at 7:30 p.m. They got the information the next morning. My policy was to expire on 11/07/12. Well they for no reason given to me took 72.00 dollars away from my payment for a half days worth of ins. It was to be pro-rated and should have been 4.00 dollars at the most. The agent did nothing to help us in this matter and I believe that he did not want to lose his commision for the policy. I saw no where in the policy where that amount would of been taken out.I have been wrongly treated and would like to have some advise as to what to do....

- Underwriting - Premium Too High
- Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
- Marketing & Sales - Misrepresentation

- General - I feel abused by this company
Prior to retiring in 2012, I had my life insurance policy reviewed. Two agents came out, I should have known that there was a high pressure tactic planned. I was told that I could increase my policy, my loan would be paid off and that I would receive my first notice of premium payment the first of 2013. Yes, I received my first premium payment of $6,000 due December 8, 2012.
Prior to this, I have received letters stating that I was to receive a check which never arrived; when I called my agent he said it was a mistake.
I need help resolving this situation. I want to leave money for my grand children but all I am getting is grief.
I have called their 1-800-777-6650 number only to be placed on "hold." I have called agent Christopher Wyllie (1-630-575-5037)only to be told that he could come out and go over my policy. I don't want him to come out again and go over my policy. I do not trust him....

Farm Bureau's insured pulled out in front of my husband on his motorcycle. Farm Bureau's insured was issued a citation for Failure to Yield and she paid the ticket. The officer investigating the accident even said it was her fault and she even said she didn't see my husband on his bike but Farm Bureau is refusing to be the Insurance they claim they are and pay the claim. It has totaled my husband's 2012 Harley Davidson Cruiser and we have $15,000 in emergency room bills....
