I have worked in the insurance industry in Florida for over 15 years. No insurance company will cover the repair to the plumbing, as that is general maintenance. Most will cover the water damage. Florida Peninsula and a few others require you to use their contractors as a way to help keep insurance premiums lower. You may want to contact the state Insurance Consumer Services at 877-693-5236 regarding the estimates. I noticed you included Forced Placement in your complaint issue. Forced Placement is when your mortgage company chooses the insurance company for you and the premiums are usually two to three times what you were paying with a private company that you chose.

You should be getting a Premier or Premier Plus discount on your policy as a safe driver. Yes, those "Bonuses" such as claim free checks or lowering your deductible every year do cost more premium in the long run. That is how the insurance companies can afford to offer them.

You need to make a complaint to the Attorney's Bar in Raliegh and to the North Carolina Department of Insurance then find another attorney firm to represent you. In Ashville you can call Mike Wimer at the Ashville Law Group for advice. As I am in Charlotte I know that he can help you if it can be done. First things first. The insurance company is representing itself not nessissarily you. Also their is an appeals board in Ashville that if you think that their is some impropriatory you can have them look into it.

Before you do the repairs you have several options here, First you as the homeowner can ask for apprasial. You can do this by hiring a Public Adjuster in your state. He or she gets a persentage of the claim after it is approved. If this fails you can hire an attorney in your state and bring suit for Bad Faith Claim Handling which usually brings in triple damages. Most attorney's will do this as a percentage of the claim. Most forensic enginners are in the pocket of the insurance company so they will write the report in favor of the insurance company not you. If you make a firm stance now the insurance company will not want to do a drawn out battle in court. If you read the manufacturers technical services bullitions It states that hail Damage is irreversable so it cannot be repaired the roof must be replaced. So if the granuals have been dislodged and have become disbonded your roof cannot be repaired. All of these are available online in all of the web-sites from the manufacturers look under hail damage and all warranty's are void no matter if it was just installed or not.
