Insurance Complaint against: HealthSpring
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
I decided to change my primary doctor because the doctor I used to go to while I was working was now taking Health Spring who had added Cigna onto their name. I called on 8/29/2013. The lady told me I should get my card 8 to 10 days not counting weekend and holidays. I made an appointment with my new doctor because Health Spring and the doctor's office said I would be seen if the information was in the system. That next week I went to my appointment but the ofc. said nothing was in the system. They turned me away. I called Health Spring and they hadn't put it in the system..but said they would. I decided not to make another appointment just wait for the card. I called every week in September after 8 days and Health Spring said I should get it the coming Friday. On October 1st I mailed a letter to Health Spring of my dissatisfaction..noting everything that has happened so far. I received a pack from Health Spring earlier in the month to renew my policy and later a statement requesting Oct.'s pmt. Which I always pre-pay the month before. This really irked me. And that's when I decided to send in my complaint. I had no service August, and September and they want me to renew and are requesting a pmt that's already paid. I told them I ... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Progressive
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I drove my vehicle to someone's house on a day when the street that this house was on was being reasphalted. I picked up fresh tar on my tires and drove onto this person's concrete driveway. The tar from my tires left four tire tracks 30 feet long up a nice concrete driveway and wrecked it. Progressive insurance, to my absolute amazement, claims that this has nothing to do with my vehicle. They claim that this homeowner should go after the asphault company. Of course the shape of the tar matching the shape of my Progressive insured vehicle's tire tracks apparently has absolutely nothing to do with anything. My vehicle was the instrument that did the damage to this person's driveway. If this is not covered by Progressive insurance Company, I will cancel all my policies with this company.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
My claim to repair damage caused by a water leak behind a kitchen wall was denied by State Farm. The adjuster and his boss stated the claim was denied because of the cause of the problem rather than the end results. The damage was caused by a slow leak behind a wall and there was absolutely no way of anyone knowing it existed. According to the adjuster and his boss, had the damage occurred due to an immediate rush of water, it would have been covered. although the damage and end result for both is the same, my claim was denied. Obviously after being a loyal customer since 1979, I am highly not disappointed and frustrated with this decision and I am inclined to drop my complaint. I am aware of others that basically had the same situation and their claim was approved.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Fidelity
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Cancellation
Our homeowner's insurance is being cancelled because my insurance company's inspector did not visually see a fire hydrant while performing a cursory inspection of my property two months ago. Underwriters from Fidelity National Insurance Company, located in Jacksonville, Florida, are insisting upon a letter from our local fire department confirming there is a fire hydrant within 1000ft of my home. In the 27 years I have owned a home, fire hydrant location has never been questioned. I live in a suburban area, and the fire hydrant IS within 1000 feet, located on a street perpendicular to mine, and therefore not visible from my yard. I have even provided a map with the exact location, so why is this even an issue? I have never had a fire-related issue, and the fire department is one half mile away. I am outraged that a customer with a flawless record can be treated so poorly.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
Last week water flowed into our daughters bedroom and flooded the carpet from my bathroom. We found out our deductible was $2000, changed without notifying us. We called someone out to look at it, after he checked it the water began leaking through the first floor ceiling. So, now its worst and he still cannot find the source of the problem. We called out a contractor and he stated he had to open up the walls to fix the problem, the cost $3500 to fix it! State Farm came out and looked at it and said, we need to get the walls open. However, the contractor won't start until they pay the deposit. I have already paid out $700.00 with little to no results. We are on a time limit because water creates mold! I have 4 young kids and State Farm has put us at a stand still. They said, they want to check to see if it's a slow leak. This is stupid because once it flooded the room, there is nothing slow about it. Only a moron could say it flooded the room and damaged the ceiling in a 6x6 area from a slow leak. I have to leave for Korea in a short amount of time. I think I'm going to call my lawyer to see if I can sue State Farm for putting my kids life in danger! Why wait for the worst to happen! I don't have time to play games with the... Read More

I have been a Liberty Mutual customer for about 13 years now. A few years back I was carjacked by knifepoint and my car was taken. After a police chase the car was eventually totaled by Liberty Mutual claims department. This car was a preowned Mazda3 year 2005. Well I was paid by their claims representative and used that money as a down payment for a new mazda3 year 2008 fully loaded sedan. On September 9th I was in an auto accident most of which I can't remember just being put in an ambulance and winding up having my airbag break 2 of my ribs. Everything at first was fine with Liberty Mutual until we realized that they had been insuring me under the car they had totaled in 2008 for the past 5 years. Unfortunately I never even realized being that it is the same make and model car just a difference of 3 years in the body type. Now I know that when I drove off the dealership with my new 2008 I would not of been allowed to leave without proof of insurance and I have copies of all documents proving the new vin # with the policy I have been paying for the past 5 years. Now all of a sudden my rental is no longer being paid for by Liberty Mutual. In addition I am being told that I am not being paid one dime for my car they deemed total... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance

State Farm wrote a policy for two vehicles and later added a newly purchased SUV with comprehensive and collision coverage. The kid who wrote the policy did not seem to know much about insurance as he had to call someone to get advice about the coverage because these vehicles are classic cars. The insurance premiums were paid in good faith until there was a problem requiring a claim at which State Farm made it nearly impossible to report the damage. The agent who wrote the policy was no help at all and it became a very frustrating matter to report the claim to State Farm who refused to investigate the damages. The side of my classic Mercedes was smashed and State Farm refused to send an adjuster to survey the damages as there was no “Scope of Damages” listed with the claim. Phone call after phone call was placed to State Farm and still no-one from State Farm Insurance was interested in taking care of this Hit & Run claim. After informing State Farm we were going to call a lawyer about the damages to this car, State Farm agreed to take action. I did get a check from State Farm that was $1,000 less than the estimate written by the nearest body shop and that lowball estimate was laughable. Six months later, all three of m... Read More

To be honest with you, to start with any classic vehicles should be written with classic insurance and if comp and collision is ask for the owner should obtain an appraisal to determine the true value of the vehicles. Any one can claim a value on an older vehicle but if no appraisal is done there is real no book value to a vehicle 7 years or older. As for low ball estimate, the estimate is based on and is agreed on between insurance company and body shop you selected. So if you got a check for $1,000 less then original given then both State Farm and the body shop came to agreement on the true damages. As for the second claim, this sounds like insurance fraud. First of all if these vehicles were classics as you state then they should have been in a locked secured garage. Second, for some one to do what you stated it would require a lot of time to complete. To pour something into the brakes and radiator would require some one opening the hoods on all 3 vehicles. As for fine dirt particles in the oil and transmission that could be normal wear and tear due to age which would be expected. As for liquid soap being added to your gas tank how was that determined? To be really honest with you, this really sounds like it is a set up.
