Insurance Complaint against: Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
Hurricane isiac aug 2012 filed claim FEMA and flood adjusters inspected and settled within one week.thanks. Wind policy separate adjuster had wrong cell number, promised written copy of inspection. Now 28dec and still no inspection reports. No final claim settlement for 5 months old. Four separate adjuster inspections and still waitin for settlement itemized list submitted 4months ago and partial claim settled. Nationwide contracted boulder claims in colarado, boulder sub contracted adjusters and no check and no written inspections(4). I had to retain attorney to get partial settlement.insurance adjusters not consistent. One contacts attorney, several contact me. Poor communications eg, wrong cell number furnished by contractor delayed adjuster inspection. 4seperate inspections for small dollar value claim, repeat inspections add to cost of claims and future premiums. Suggest companies limit contracting and subcontracting. Suggest time limit on denying claim and settlement just like time limit on over due premium. Thanks for prompt settlement flooding .... Insurance Complaint against: GEICO
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Refusal to Insure
  • Underwriting - Forced Placement
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I had an accident back 2011, I was not at fault, the other party Vincent Black got ticket, however when my car had to be fixed, my so-call "lawyer Dean Gettis" explain to me that Vincent Black and I we both insured under geico therefore geico wanted to split the amount to fix the car 50%. I told Dean Gettis there is no way I am going to accept that, he went and send a letter to Geico that I accept the 50%, I did not sign that letter. I bought a car and when I called some insurance companies, eventhough I have a clean driver's license, none of them want to cover the car, because they said Geico said that I was 50% negligent on the 2011 accident. Geico refused to removed the 50% negligent on my record and that CHARLATANT call DEAN GETTIS do not do anything to help me. I had to returned the car back to the dealer because I could not find any insurance with a reasonable price. Imagine Progressive asked me $1625 for the first month and $900 monthly just because geico made me 50% negligent for an accident I was not at fault.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Farmers Insurance Group
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
I had switched from State Farm to Farmers' thinking I would save money and honestly be supportive of my local agent and her business. I have had nothing but trouble. After Farmers' denied me my homeowners' because of 2 loose shingles, I decided to go back to State Farm. Then they decided to reinstate my homeowners' but too late. I have tried to cancel all my policies and my daughters' policies also, and they are still taking money out of my account. This has been going on for over a month. What a nightmare. Here, I was trying to do good on several fronts and got nothing but problems. I work for a very successful credit union, and rest assured, I will not recommend Farmers' insurance to anyone I come in contact with. I have never complained like this before about anything, but I felt I had no choice in this matter. Would you please process my cancellations and stop taking money out of my account, and also process my reimbursements that is owed to me. Thank you. Rena Roberts... Read More

It doesn't matter who is taking money out of your account - even though you orignally agreed to it. Call your bank and tell them what you have stated here. File a dispute and you will place a stop payment on them so they can't get any more money from you. 99% of the time the bank will refund into your account what the insurance company unlawfully took from you while they investigate your dispute. If you get them all the info they ask for - it becomes a permanent amount in your account that can't be touched and will leave farmwes in the cold.

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Liability Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
On Monday 11/26/2012 I drove ave Z in Brooklyn. All at once Toyota from service road skipped Stop-sign and hit my car on right side. The police officers had arrived very soon at the place and provided investigation. They mentioned it in the police report that the Toyota realy skipped Stop-sign and failed my right of the way. The Toyota was insured with State Farm. Because I have just liability insurance, that's why immediately I filed complain to State Farm Insurance the same day accident happened. But the insurance company delayed decision as long as they can, stating they don't have police report yet. Eventually I faxed them my copy of the report. Nevertheless they eluded whole week to review the document. Only in one month after accident happened the agent with name Patric called me home and sad they can pay only 60% of my car damage, because their insured stated that I hit her car not she hit mine. The fact that their insured violated the traffic rules which is clearly stated in the police report means nothing for State Farm.... Read More

all the insurance companies are playing the same sick profound game with peoples well-being, the farmers insurance company's very own claims adjuster, crashed into me after speeding out of a collision garage in renton washington. My van was totaled and 3 passengers and myself were injured. And the driver never asked if we were alright. But his insurance company (Farmers)told me and my passengers that I was 40% in the wrong. I was supposed to avoid getting crashed into. They wont pay my hospital bills. But thats alright because no one likes insurance companies any way and when I get them in front of a jury they will pay more than I asked for. So what ever you do, dont rush play their game and make it work in your behalf. My name is Charles and I dont care who knows it.

No if you have insurance coaevrge that meets your home state's requirements, it won't cost you any more to take the trip for insurance. If you have an accident in another state, your insurance will automatically adjust for another state's higher limits or for no-fault coaevrge. For good coaevrge, though, you should carry at least 100/300/50 limits. Ask your agent about this.Even if your company doesn't usually write in all states, you're still covered. Just be sure to have the insurance ID card with you at all times, and be sure the license for anyone who might drive is current. Also, be sure your policy is paid up for at least the length of the trip.We did the same thing in the summer of 1988 a 31-day, 7000-mile trip out west, including several states where our regular company doesn't normally write insurance, and had no problems at all.Enjoy!

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Cancellation
I don't expect any resolution, but I would like for my experience to be recorded. In January of 2004, I purchased homeowners insurance from State Farm. In 2009, I went to another insurance company, but switched back to State Farm in 2010. I was told that that time that the underwriters had determined that I needed to make some improvement, one of which was to put gutters on the house. The house never had gutters and I was told by several people that gutters were not needed because the house was on stilts. Nonetheless, I tried to get the work done, but was unable to find someone with a ladder tall enough to reach the back side. Finally, in June of 2011, a charity came to help. ( I had been laid off in 2009 and was still unemployed.) The charity put on a new roof, replaced the rotting fascia boards, painted the house and was going to put up gutters, but my insurance was cancelled anyway. In August, my house was destroyed by fire. Ironically, it burned quickly because of the fresh tar on the roof. My issue with State Farm is this: A comment was made to me by my agent that "they" would say that "they" were not keeping up the house. I am assuming the first they would be whoever was making the decision. I am concerned th... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Allianz Global Assistance
Coverage Type: Travel Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I purchased travel insurance. on Oct. 5. 2012, for a trip to Tel Aviv, Israel planned for 12/1/12. There were TERRORIST attacks in many cities in Israel in November. The policy has a section called "Trip Cancellation", on page 7. Following that is a heading called "Terrorism". These words explain the word "Terrorism" "A terrorist event happens at your foreign destination within 30 days of the day you're scheduled to arrive." I included an article with my claim. It is titled "Bus exploded in central Tel Avev, first terror attack in the city since 2006." I was told,on the telephone with Christine, that my claim was denied because "there are always events in Israel". This was not an event--it was terrorism. I hope to plan another trip to Israel because my daughter, son-in-law, and 5 grandchildren live there. In order for me to use the credit for that cancelled ticket, Delta requires a payment of $250 PLUS any changes of fares. That would cost an additional minimum amount of $600 (tkt has already cost me $1085) I am asking to be treated fairly and for Allianz to acknowledge my trip cancellation was covered in the policy. I most sincerely thank you for any consideration. P.S. I have a question: If Allianz feels "... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: American Automobile Association
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Unfair Surcharge
  • PolicyHolder Service - Payment Not Credited
  • PolicyHolder Service - Denied Access to Services
  • Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
I applied for SR22 on Oct 5,2012 thru American Auto Insurance Agency; I found them in the yellow pages; called to get an estimate. They gave me an estimate of $229; when I agreed to take them and paid the amount "quoted", they refused to give me the Insurance Card that came with the policy if you are stopped by the police; 2)they told me that because I paid in full & they weren't able to make money off of me thru "interest" fees they weren't obigated to give me a card with my policy; 3)On 10/12/12 - I received a call from their underwriting Dept. stating that they were unable to find anyone to insure me so infact I am not covered. So, I asked for a full refund of the $229 I had given them. They told me it would take 2-3 weeks for refund. On 11/10/12 - I called them to inquire about my refund, and was told they they were not informed of me cancelling my policy - which was a lie! I e-mailed their Underwriting Dept. an official notice indicating the names of the two people I had spoken to, and the several letters I received from their office stating that my policy was cancelled back in 10/12/12. However, with this they only refunded me(12/21/12) $221 of what they owe me.... Read More
