  • General - I feel abused by this company
my vehicle was stolen and burned. it was stolen from the parking lot where I work. the adjuster hasn't come right out and said it but she is insinuating i had it done.she has dug into my personal and financial life. If I could not have afforded the car I would never had gotten it. It has been over four months. The adjuster talks down to people and doesn't want or like to answer questions but she has a lot of her own. My agent,I respect. She has heard and seen the way the adjuster is. Allstate could care less. They say."YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS WITH ALLSTATE". Thats fine as long as they are getting your money but forget all about you when you need them.I always thought allstate was the best out there. After reading other complaints I am beginning to see the true ALLSTATE. Would I recommend anyone to allstate. The answer is HELL NO. Thing is I have recommended people to them before. So everyone I did recommend I am sorry I sent you to them.I heard of someone else with the same problem as me. She also has been going through hell with allstate about her vehicle beening stolen and burned. The adjusters they have have NO heart or care about their customers just their paycheck. Building Management Services I owned a direct P&C agency and an independent agency since 1971 and home fires was the hardest to explain to clients because of the time involved. I own investment property so between insuring and working contractors I understand how they work. I ran across a FEMA article on structural damages after a major loss which caught my attention but I was busy building my own home myself to follow up. But between the wind, rain, no show contractors and a hurricane I just about lost my mind, marriage and property. All I need to do was add to my experience loosing EVERYTHING, RECORDS, PHONE NUMBERS, CLOTHING, MEDICINES, PICTURES AND MAYBE FAMILY MEMBERS and I could FINALLY SEE WHAT MY CLIENTS WERE ACTUALLY GOING THROUGH. The adjuster told us on several occassions we would receive the depreciaiton value of our claim if we spent the full repair amount. This was not true. On 9/10/2012 my home was flooded when my washing machine overflowed causing 1-2 inches of standing water in every room in the house. The insurance company had a mitigation company dispatched and an adjuster to clean up the standing water and estimate damages. Upon receiving the actual estimate via Email we had a telephone conference with the adjuster regarding the claim. The adjuster Scott Garland explained the depreciation value of the claim. He stated that if we spent the full amount of money the insurance company was going to give us for the damages, that we would receive the depreciation value on the claim (roughly $3,627.85). My wife told me that and I sent Mr. Garland and email asking if this was correct and he telephoned me and explained to me that as long as we spend the full $13981 of our insurance claim to repair the damages to our home, that the home would no longer be depreciated and we would receive the total amount for depreciation. I have always purchased STD/LTD policy through an employer, and I did as well when I worked at SFC (Shoes for Crews, LLC). SFC offered STD/LTD policies post-tax, so deductions taken from my paycheck. I have been always purchased these policies, as backup in case I was in the situation of not be able to work for an extended period of time. SFC offered a STD/LTD policy from The Standard (Portland, OR), the policy itself of very expensive - I should have seen this warning sign. I had to go out for a lumbar fusion w/S1 nerve root decompression and support rods. I had been told recovery was anyway from three months to two years. So I went on FMLA using my vacation and sick pay. The corporation SFC is horrible to its employees about disabilites, illness and general overall care and safety. My recovery was going to be longer than the FMLA - so I decided to use the LTD. I asked SFC's HR dept for the STD/LTD paperwork as I wanted to file a claim, first I was told I could not (SFC is well known for violating employee civil rights, SFC has a lot of labor violations with DOL). For over twenty years I have been paying for flood insurance in a wrong flood zone. My zone should be AH7 and instead I have been paying for A01 zone. For the past several months I have been in contact with my agent and with Allstate flood underwriting department but have gotten no refund. I have had State Farm Insurance since I was 16 YOA and my parents had them most of their life. When the hurricanes hit Florida in 2004 and 2005 back to back I suffered damages. My house was flooded for about 10 days in about 5 inches of water. It came through the siding of the house and I was without power for almost 2 weeks the first time. I work in emergency services so there wasn't much I could do to fix anything. Parts of my roof were damaged and water leaked into my upstairs. The mold began immediately. My policy covered that; however, State Farm was untruthful and claimed that my policy didn't cover mold. (They have yet to prove that) They sent an adjuster from Texas to estimate my damages. He estimated a little over $10,000.00 for a new roof, fence, (acreage), siding, replace drywall, electrical, paint upstairs and some portions downstairs. They cut me a check for apprx. $4,900.00. He advised when I got the work done they would write me another check for $2,700.00 and some change. I explained that I could not do all the work for that money. My deductible was close to $2,000.00. I am giving you the background on my claim which I believe entails fraud on the part of American Family or their representative Brad Tagliapetra of Fond du Lac.I wish to pursue a separate fraud complaint which is: He told me that my camper was worth $12000. I told him that I cannot replace it for that. He told me to buy extra insurance. He asked how much more do I want. He said do u want $10 ,!% or $20,000 . I chose $20,000 as it would cover replacement cost. I am paying $32.30 a month for this extra coverage. The policy he says I have cost $12 a month. I will send you the proof from another AMFAM agent. I emailed the CEO on down to my agent over 20 times asking why am I paying the $32.20 a month. Its not a billing mistake as I called in July of this yr to ask about my policy. Again his office stated that I have REPLACEMENT VALUE. Im still paying an extra $200 over the basic policy cost.for the yr premium. NO ONE will answer why? I stated that one of two things is an explanation. Either I have replacement value or American family or its agents are selling me a product that they know I will never see.
