Insurance Complaint against: Safeco
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle
- Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I was parked and backed into by an individual insured by Safeco on January 26, 2015. The guy claimed he didn't see my car in the parking space. The police completed an incident report which clearly states he was at fault. I put the claim into Safeco, and at first they claimed they were unable to get in touch with the guy and would not process the claim until the did so. The adjuster's name is Stacey Crooks. These folks flat out refuse to get my 2013 Cadillac ATS repaired, so I will have to personally sue their insured for the repairs.
There is no rhyme or reason why Safeco, Stacey Crooks, should deny this claim. You cannot back into a parked car. The excuse that you cannot contact your insured is ridiculous. How long can that excuse be valid? I eventually went through my own insurance company who was absolutely fabulous. I already have the paperwork to file a small claims suit against the insured so that I can at least get my deductible back. The insured should definitely find a company that stands behind him because as of now, I'm going after bank accounts, homes, etc. to put liens against the insured.
Safeco has no business conducting business in the State of Florida if they won't honor a cut and dried claim. Th...

Insurance Complaint against: Safeco
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance
- Underwriting - Cancellation
After five years of coverage without ay claims they are cancelling for trivial reasons. A plumbing fixture was temporarily in the backyard and a piece of drip edge was loose on the roof These defects have been corrected.
In addition there are two agricultural buildings in poor condition which I do not expect coverage on. One is a disused earth-floor chicken coop on the rear of the lot, which they object to missing shingles.
I feel that this is a way to indirectly jack up rates by driving me to another insurer....

October 2014- we changed insurance providers due to the high cost of our previous provider. We signed and paid our policy premium for two months and received a letter in November that as of January 1st the premiums will be raised by 180$s more, each one. When we called our agent we were told that due to open enrollment starting January 1st, 2015 the premiums were raised for the year instead of it being a "rolling calendar year". We were told that by individualizing our plans we may be eligible for subsidies and they could save us some money on the same plan. We decided to allow them to do this on December 17th in order to not lapse in insurance by the 1st of January. On December 26th, a Friday, we received a letter dated December 17th, 2 weeks prior to receiving the letter that if a premium payment is not received by January 1st, 2015 that the policies would be canceled. On December 29th, Monday, the premium payments were mailed to Assurant Health. The first week of January we received our medical cards. When we tried to use the cards the following week we were told that they were invalid. On the 14th of January I called our agent who looked into the issue and called me back the same day and said that underwriting stated that the ...

I have a rental policy with State farm homeowners insurance with a 1000. deductible. I have paid my premiums for years. I have had one renter in my house for 4 years. When I reported my claim and noticed the amount of damage I called to make a report. The Claim adjuster came out took pictures went through the house saw the damage. Then to try and get out of paying the claim. They separated the claims stating that according to their photos the damage happened over time. So they separated the claim out to 6 different claims. Saying that I had to pay my 1000. deductible for each claim. This was not right. I told them I live out of state. This is not right! I have been making phone calls to the claims department and my insurance company with not response back! This has been terrible and frustrating....

Our primary doctor retired. We chose Dr. Mark Gottlieb as our new Primary Care Provider. We are insured by United Health Care AARP.Jan 16 2015 We called United Health care to have Dr. Gottlieb added as our Primary while we were in the doctors office. (We did not know we had to list a doctor prior to the visit to a brand new doctor. What if we did not like him?) After dialing UHC, we were on hold 30 minutes. I was called in to see the doctor so I gave the phone to my husband. He held for another 30 minutes. We finally hung up and called later in the day. We received the recording that all reps were busy. Wait time over 15 min. We gave up for the day. Monday my husband called again. He spoke with a rep that claimed she found Dr. Gottlieb and added him to his record. I did not know the status of my account so I called on Friday Jan 23. There was no record of any change in my account. I asked for a supervisor. I was transferred to Supv. Shanay. She promply called Dr. Gottlieb's office to get the info she needed. She updated both accounts which took about 30 min. This should have never happened. There is no reason for a rep to make these kinds of mistakes, leaving the patient in the middle and not updating the records. Had I not invest...

I chose WellCare for my Medicare pharmacy supplement. CVS is the mail order pharmacy of choice for WellCare, but I received unsatisfactory service from CVS, so I switched to Walgreens pharmacy. Walgreens pharmacy provided all of my tier 1 medications at no cost to me. Walgreens has an advertisement stating they provide mail order pharmacy service, so because Walgreens is listed as one of WellCare's preferred pharmacies, I had no idea the Walgreens pharmacy was different from the Walgreens mail order pharmacy and I signed up for my meds to be delivered to my home. The first shipment of medications I got were $154! The same meds I had received from Walgreens pharmacy at no cost to me. When I called WellCare to ask why this happened, the explanation I got was that Walgreens mail order pharmacy was NOT a preferred mail order pharmacy for WellCare. I explained why I had chosen not to continue with CVS, and that they had referred me to Walgreens, and that I had no idea Walgreens pharmacy and Walgreens mail order pharmacy were not the same thing. I immediately asked to have ALL orders cancelled, and I cancelled my enrollment with WellCare to be effective 12/31/2014. I then received yet another shipment of medication to the tune of $190....

I had a car accident on Nov.15, 2014 by a driver that had Progressive insurance. I contacted the insurance on 11/16 and I was given a claim number and was told by Richard Dodson that he will be handling my claim. I called on monday 11/17, 11/18, 11/19 and on that day Richard stated that he could not get a hold of the driver that hit my vehicle. I explained to Richard that my car was at the shop because it was not drivable and that I needed a car he said that it may take 3 weeks before he had an answere. I went to the shop and met with the adjuster, I explained that I had no car and I showed him the police report that indicated that the other driver was at fault and that he had fleed the sceneof the accident, the adjuster said he will try and get a hold of Richard and expedite the claim, I explained that I had no car and that I will get the cheapest rental and when Richard decided to fix my car then he can also pay the rental. I called Richard on Nov. 20, 21, 22 and finally I called the main number and was told that my case was transfered to Andrea Miller so I called Andrea and she said that they will accept responsibility for part of the accident because the other driver said that a semi truck made him hit my car so I had to track...

No company will pay a third party claim without speaking to their insured first, regardless of a police report. If he is playing hard to get, they cannot do anything. There is no time limit for them to pursue the claim. You did the correct thing by going through your insurance and then they will subrogate against his insurance.
