Tristate Consumer Insurance is a company you want to stay far away from, despite their competitive rates. The real test of an insurance company is not the rate it charges but how well it responds to and pays your claims. This company is fraudulent when it comes to settling claims and should be put out of business. I have experienced both sides with Tristate with vehicle insurance and with home insurance. Like many other who have reported, they did drop my auto insurance without cause as my premiums from excellent driving record was not profitable enough for them. My home’s roof was damaged by Hurricane Sandy. They literally refused to pay, and instead gave me, after arbitration, the grand sum of $4000 to “patch” my roof, according to what their estimator and process recommended. I ended up paying $12000 to replace the roof. My next door neighbor’s roof was fully replaced within two weeks by State Farm insurance without a hassle. When you see that company’s president Penny Hart herself taking the time to attend mediation cases against the company all week, you know that there is something wrong with that picture. We have been a customer of erie insurance for over 30 yrs! My mother became gravely ill around the 15th of Sept. we were at her beside until the end! She past in Oct! With the stress and loss of my mom I forgot to pay my bill! It was due Sept 29 2013, always payed a one time payment on line! So on oct 19th I went online and payed my homeowner s insurance , I received my conformation # 10 days latter they canceled us , So i called My Agent, She said she didn't no, but looked like insufient funds, I told her that wasn't possible because we have over drat protection, after searching , I'm the one to find my problem ,I accidentally hit one number wrong of my checking account, 10 days after I thought I payed , never got a call to let me know from my agent, I had been to Charles mills office twice, to find out,they didn't want to forgive my mistake because I had 2 claims in 3 yrs, one the hail storm, the other, ice storm, both was an act of God, 32 yrs with this company ,this company has caused me mental and physical stress, and they should be more professional , thank you very much for taking the time to read my complaint, sandy Robinson... ALLSTATE IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY IN THE WORLD. ALL THEY DO IS COLLECT PREMIUMS AND THEIR PHILOSOHPY IS NOT TO PAY CLAIMS. I have had both auto and homeowners ins. with Allstate in Illinois for the past 12 years. My agent there was always ready for any questions. I did not have any claims, always paid premiums on time. Now I retired to Florida, was set up with agent Carolyn Hersch in Hudson, Fl. who never returned my calls. My premiums doubled without my knowing or authorization. I was forced to move to a new company being I am now on a fixed income and saving myself two-thirds of that premium. I am being billed for the last month with Allstate without my knowledge and threatened to go to collections. I would not recommend anyone in their right mind to buy Allstate.... Read More

Hi Patricia, If you were double-covered for the time you were with Allstate and the new carrier, Allstate cannot legally charge you. Simply send in a copy of your new declaration page, and they must backdate your cancellation and refund the portion of time you were double-covered. If your agent won't return your calls, contact Allstate directly and let them know.

I have had health insurance with Aetna since 2009. This is an individual policy. Every year the premium ratchets up 15-20% Currently, it is an obscene 1178 a month. The annual deductible is 2500. After the deductible is filled, they charge a 50% co-pay to a maximum of 17000. So, in about four years, I have paid close to $40,000 in premiums. Aetna has yet to pay one claim. Recently, I have had a claim for a very expensive drug. I have also had some major claims where I have surpassed the deductible. My doctor sent a prescription for me to my local pharmacy. The drug is a specialty drug. It costs 3700 a dose. The local Walgreens sent it over to there Specialty Pharmacy division. After two weeks of phone calls with Walgreens, they advised me that they were ready to ship upon payment. I gave them a credit card number. They did not ship the drug to my doctor. I called them back. They told me that Aetna called them at the last minute. They instructed Walgreen's to fax the prescription to the Aetna Special Pharmacy. The price to me from both pharmacies was about the same $3700 for a single dose. It was apparent to me that Aetna wanted to handle the prescription because of the high mark-up on it. Talk about Obamacare I am on Medicare and have to pay over $5,000 just for a supplement policy. I get it thru AARP that is supposed to be helping seniors get the best deal. But United Health Care will not sell a policy that I would have a $147.50 payment one time a year but would save me over 1200.00 a year. United Health Care just does not want to give up the extra money they can make and that is the only reason I can think of for not selling the G policy. The bad part we can not change to another company because we have a medical problem. United Health Care could sale this policy as all supplement policies are the same for all companies and they can sale them all if they want to.... Read More

They claim that preventive care is covered. My doctor wanted to me to get counseling for how to live with diabetes. When they called for authorization, it was denied. They said they will only cover children. I needed to find a rheumatologist. Every office I called that listed united as one of there insurance providers, would not take new patients. They said it is too hard to deal with them and get paid. Here is the one that is really setting me off. I had a partial knee replacement last year, I now need one on my other knee. My company went from BCBC to united since than. I scheduled it two weeks ago yesterday. I let my company know I would be out starting Nov. 1st. On Thurs I got a call from the surgeons office, about the payment for the doctor. No problem, I will call you Fri. When I am home and pay you. I called and made the payment. I received a call several min.
