Insurance Complaint against: GEICO
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • Underwriting - Cancellation
  • Underwriting - Forced Placement
My famaily & I just relocated from TX to MI and I started making inquiries re: auto insurance in MI. I contacted Geico and other major competetors to locate the best rates. During my earlier research, I recieved an emailed quote from Geico, but was not happy with the rate and continued my search. We recently recieved an email from Geico indicating there were rate changes in MI, and we should contact customer service. This was the reason for my latest contact with Geico on Thursday 7/26/12. On my initial phone call, I spoke with a pleasant lady in the MI office; she began researching the rate options and things were going well. However, before we could confirm the amounts, the phone call was disconnected. I waited to see if she would call me back, however she did not. So I called again. On my 2nd call I got a customer service representative who's quote was almost twice as high to the original quote, so I informed her that I was not interested and would continue his research elsewhere. She indicated that this was the best rate available, even though it was approximately $1300 more than the one I'd received just a few hours before so I terminated the conversation. Within an hour, we recieved an email from Geico indicating that our... Read More

This is an outrage! I have had problems with Geico with rate increases. Hopefully when they hear about this website, they will improve their corrupt ways!

Insurance Complaint against: Progressive
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
I currently have a claim #604897660. My car is in the process of being repaired. However, we were on our way to a concert at Riverbend. My car was not driveable and we were unable to go to the concert. I would like to file a claim to be reimbursed for these tickets. I spoke to my agent, Renee Catteau (513-603-3382). She has been extremely nice and has tried to help in every way, except for the reimbursement of these tickets. The tickets were a birthday present for my husband. She spoke to her manager, but he said there is nothing they can do. Can you help me? Thanks, Judi Ramey... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Hanover Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
  • Claim Handling - Fraud
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
  • General - I feel abused by this company
On September 13, 2010 I was involved in a minor altercation with my car. I was at a complete stop at a trafic light, 2nd in line, when I reached down to pick up my cell phone which was in my purse. My foot eased up on the brake pedal and In drifted a few inches and tapped the bumper of the car in front of me. this auto was driven by a young female. We pulled over the first chance we had. Called the police dept in West Springfield MA. No one was hurt, no damage to either vehicle, which was noted by the officer who responded. Took pic of both bumpers and the dirt wasn't even disturbed. Recently, I moved to TN and applied for insurance. I was notified that a claim for $1100.00 was filed and paid for this incident in 2010. I called Hanover Ins company and advised them that it was a fraudulent claim and they just said what it amounted to as "too bad its already been paid". I asked for the agents name who worked the claim and the adjuster who filed damages that weren't there. I have the accident report and it states no damage to either bumper of the 2 cars involved. I was not notified that this fraudulent claim had been filed or that it affected my insurance, until July of 2012 when I tried to get insurance on my car. This is a out an... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Refusal to Insure
  • Underwriting - Cancellation
  • Underwriting - Forced Placement
State Farm abruptly notified us this month that they would no longer underwrite liability coverage on our son, who has driven 3.7 years without any tickets or accidents. He is an "A" student at a prestigious university, an Eagle Scout and does not drink. The reason given for dumping him into the much more expensive state "high-risk pool" was that the risk exceeds the premium they are allowed to charge in NC. My local agent said it was a new company policy to refuse coverage of drivers with less than 5 years of driving experience. WHAT ABOUT THEIR DRIVING RECORD ?? State Farm was OK with selling us insurance with him on the policy for the past 3 years, so why dump a good driver now ??? GREED, that's my conclusion. We also have our homeowner's insurance with State Farm, but not for much longer - I'm going to call several carriers today, and send a copy of this complaint to the BBB and the NC Insurance Commissioner. What a CROCK ! "Like a poor neighbor, State Farm is NOT there !"... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I am a Chiropractor in San Francsico. Recently I and other Chiropractors receved a letter from Blue Shield of California that they were reducing reimbursment by up to 60% of our normal fees by reducing treatment time and a tiered system of reimbursement. As of September 1, 2012 they will only pay for 15 minutes of Chiropractic treatment, little or no physiotherapy, that is so important to the well being of my patients. As a result, patients wanting the estended services I provide, will now have to pay out of their own pocket to get it. In a different letter and new application, Blue Shield has now stopped the insurance business and went into the "managed care" business. They are hiding under the guise of the Knox Keene Act, that has destroyed California health care and removed itself from regulations from the California Department of Insurance and under the ill-functioning California Department of Managed Care. They wer the last good California insurance, but from my standpoint they moved below Cigna, which was at the bottom now for two years. I suggest going with PPO plan with Aetna or Blus Cross, but stay away from plans that reduce your benefits without even telling you (as they did their insureds)... Read More

We cancelled our policy as we found State Farm is less expensive and offers more benefits and services. We were paying monthly. When we cancelled our policy, Progressive had charged us another month and will not give back the leftover money. They are sending us around the merry-go-round. at this time they owe us $154.and change. We tried to explain, but we are getting a runaround. Our monthly payment was $116. and change. They owe us for one and one third payment.... Read More

This is exactly why you stay away from the insurance companies that do a lot of advertising. I hope you don't have a claim with your new insurance company. If you do you will see what I mean.

Insurance Complaint against: Highmark
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
Highmark sends out all kinds of booklets stressing how they want to promote wellness. The plan I have at Mack trucks is supposed to cover routine physicals. My doctor ordered routine ekg and blood work for a 53 year old man. Now after the physical is over I get a bill for 260.00 from the diagnostic company who did the blood work. Seems Highmark decided one of the tests was not necessary and the rest needed part to be paid by a deductible. I guess I'll have to go back to never going to doctor until you end up in ER....
