No if you have insurance coaevrge that meets your home state's requirements, it won't cost you any more to take the trip for insurance. If you have an accident in another state, your insurance will automatically adjust for another state's higher limits or for no-fault coaevrge. For good coaevrge, though, you should carry at least 100/300/50 limits. Ask your agent about this.Even if your company doesn't usually write in all states, you're still covered. Just be sure to have the insurance ID card with you at all times, and be sure the license for anyone who might drive is current. Also, be sure your policy is paid up for at least the length of the trip.We did the same thing in the summer of 1988 a 31-day, 7000-mile trip out west, including several states where our regular company doesn't normally write insurance, and had no problems at all.Enjoy!

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Cancellation
I don't expect any resolution, but I would like for my experience to be recorded. In January of 2004, I purchased homeowners insurance from State Farm. In 2009, I went to another insurance company, but switched back to State Farm in 2010. I was told that that time that the underwriters had determined that I needed to make some improvement, one of which was to put gutters on the house. The house never had gutters and I was told by several people that gutters were not needed because the house was on stilts. Nonetheless, I tried to get the work done, but was unable to find someone with a ladder tall enough to reach the back side. Finally, in June of 2011, a charity came to help. ( I had been laid off in 2009 and was still unemployed.) The charity put on a new roof, replaced the rotting fascia boards, painted the house and was going to put up gutters, but my insurance was cancelled anyway. In August, my house was destroyed by fire. Ironically, it burned quickly because of the fresh tar on the roof. My issue with State Farm is this: A comment was made to me by my agent that "they" would say that "they" were not keeping up the house. I am assuming the first they would be whoever was making the decision. I am concerned th... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Allianz Global Assistance
Coverage Type: Travel Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I purchased travel insurance. on Oct. 5. 2012, for a trip to Tel Aviv, Israel planned for 12/1/12. There were TERRORIST attacks in many cities in Israel in November. The policy has a section called "Trip Cancellation", on page 7. Following that is a heading called "Terrorism". These words explain the word "Terrorism" "A terrorist event happens at your foreign destination within 30 days of the day you're scheduled to arrive." I included an article with my claim. It is titled "Bus exploded in central Tel Avev, first terror attack in the city since 2006." I was told,on the telephone with Christine, that my claim was denied because "there are always events in Israel". This was not an event--it was terrorism. I hope to plan another trip to Israel because my daughter, son-in-law, and 5 grandchildren live there. In order for me to use the credit for that cancelled ticket, Delta requires a payment of $250 PLUS any changes of fares. That would cost an additional minimum amount of $600 (tkt has already cost me $1085) I am asking to be treated fairly and for Allianz to acknowledge my trip cancellation was covered in the policy. I most sincerely thank you for any consideration. P.S. I have a question: If Allianz feels "... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: American Automobile Association
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Unfair Surcharge
  • PolicyHolder Service - Payment Not Credited
  • PolicyHolder Service - Denied Access to Services
  • Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
I applied for SR22 on Oct 5,2012 thru American Auto Insurance Agency; I found them in the yellow pages; called to get an estimate. They gave me an estimate of $229; when I agreed to take them and paid the amount "quoted", they refused to give me the Insurance Card that came with the policy if you are stopped by the police; 2)they told me that because I paid in full & they weren't able to make money off of me thru "interest" fees they weren't obigated to give me a card with my policy; 3)On 10/12/12 - I received a call from their underwriting Dept. stating that they were unable to find anyone to insure me so infact I am not covered. So, I asked for a full refund of the $229 I had given them. They told me it would take 2-3 weeks for refund. On 11/10/12 - I called them to inquire about my refund, and was told they they were not informed of me cancelling my policy - which was a lie! I e-mailed their Underwriting Dept. an official notice indicating the names of the two people I had spoken to, and the several letters I received from their office stating that my policy was cancelled back in 10/12/12. However, with this they only refunded me(12/21/12) $221 of what they owe me.... Read More

I was told by Allstate that they did not take my payment for November and instead November and December payment out 8 days before Christmas!! I asked them to back my payment up 2 days after it was due in November. A corporation that big would have a full time IT department that takes care of this 8 hours a day!! Insurance Complaint against: Esurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • PolicyHolder Service - Incompetent Employees
There was a Policy increased more than anybody can afford a year, especially the Veterans like me that depend on Social Security retirement. From $920 went up to $1,163.11 and the sad part is that our government and the insurance commissioner approved it. The law need to change on the reporting time because it says they do not have to inform the client until 45 days out of renewal. I think it should be 6 months out and if they know before they sale the policy (which I got the feeling they did)they should tell you then.To deceived a person, especially a Veteran, should not be allow by law and I consider that as fraud. The name of the insurance is SECURITY FIRST OF FLORIDA.I spoke to the customer service yesterday and they did not give me an answer until today from WIESENHAHN INSURANCE AGENCIES.The last person I spoke to today 12/20/12 was a female name "Billy",IF IT IS HER REAL name, but refuse to give me her employee number and at first even the name. She also refuse to give me a manager or a CEO to speak to and even a number. I will also contact my Senator/Congressman in regard of allowing by law only 45 days out, to notify clients of an increase. Also, will report to BBB.I think they new about the possible increase for all the insu... Regarding I am suppose to be paid on a weekly bases...The company holds checks without notifying me of their actions when I am suppose to be let known by mail and why. I am suppose to be paid on a weekly bases ... One week equals 7 days...and they are making the checks out for eight day week. Will not pay for the back days that are owed to me. Their days go for whenever they want. Last check was from 12/02/12 thru 12/11/12 and their check will start on 12/12/12 thru ?. My adjuster took over in September of 2012 when my last one was replaced. His name is Jonah Ottley and states he has paid me for everyday. But his checks are made out for a 8 day period when I am suppose to get so much per week based per week. And this is continuing to be done. His week equals 8 days not 7. What I am owed is that 8th day. It now goes back several weeks. And only get that he states he has paid me for everyday. Again his is 8 days for a 7 day inwhich equals one week. TO HIM 8 DAYS EQUALS ONE WEEK !!! I am tired of all of the stress that this has caused me... I was denied medical in the past in which has caused further damage prior to this new adjuster taking over the claim.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Aetna
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Incompetent Employees
  • PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
  • Marketing & Sales - Misrepresentation
I searched for health insurance on line and received a phone call from a woman named Maxine Carter. We discussed coverage and she gave me a quote and followed up w/ an email outlining coverage with the address nphbenefits@yahoo.com which turns out to be an invalid address. Her agency is listed as Taylor Insurance (according to her email) and the phone # she supplied is 1-877-539-4442. The voice messaging system sounds legit. but no one ever returns my calls. This is scary because she asked for a bank acct. # for processing the first payment. I am not entirely sure that this complaint is against Aetna but that is the only company mentioned, as part of the dental plan. It has been almost 3 weeks since I talked to this woman and have not received any mailings or other contact since. Contact was made on Dec. 5, 2012.... Read More
