Insurance Complaint against: UnitedHealth Group
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
My husband has a lot of health issues. The last few years UHG has not been covering ANY claims. They process the claim and it says nothing paid. We now have bad credit because of all the collection agencys trying to collect these claims. Some of the claims where finally covered, but this does not take off the bad credit with the collection agencies. UHG was behind 16 months paying for my husband's dialysis. This is just one of many claims not paid. I worked for United Health Group for 10 years until they layed off our department in October 2012. I have tried getting HR to take care of this issue, but nothing happens. My insurance ended Oct 31, and November 14 I finally recieved the form to fill out for Cobra. I can't pick up RX my husband needs because we have no insurance until they recieve the check and paperwork for Cobra. I don't know the reason the company told us we would get the Cobra information 2 weeks after they layoff which was Oct 26. I have called the National Insurance Association and they told me that insurance companies do not have to process claims in a timely matter. (?????) So if you have health issues, you are also going to have credit issues. My house is paid off, I have not used credit cards in y... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Allianz Global Assistance
Coverage Type: Travel Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
On January 30th, 2012 I booked a cruise to the Baltics and bought the airfare to fly to Coppenhagen on August 28, 2012 to get on the cruise ship. The tickets were purchased through Cheap Tickets and I bought their travel Insurance with the tickets through Allianz. On Feb. 26th, 2012, I went to the emergency room of the hospitol and was admitted with a rare lung disease. After six days they determined the disease and later in July I was still using oxygen and my pulmonolgist recommended I cancel my foreighn trip. I called Allianz and had the Pulmonoigist fill out there form which clearly stated that this was not due to any pre-existing condition. They then asked my primary care physician to fill out a form and he reiterated that I had no previous history or treatment of a lung disease. The emergency room doctors also indicated the same. Allianz rejected my claim saying that even though the emergency room visit was clearly 26 days after I had taken out the insurance, that I must have had symptoms of breathing harder within the previous 120 days of taking out the insurance, and they had a clause in their fine print that stated that if the insured had any symptoms prior to taking out the insurance they could deny the claim. This ins co went ahead and took or tried to take this out of my account but it wasnt there. I called the representive and told him about this and his excuse was : I didnt know about this and then proceeded to ask if I want to fill out another application and I told him no. I looked at my acct just awhile ago and they tried to take it out again so now i will have to close my account. This company is deceiving and I wrote and told them but no reply. My mother in law is actually the one insured by Unified Life insurance company partnered with Optum Health Allies but my sister in law and I have been the ones making the phone calls to make sure things are being done accordingly, which they aren't. My mother in law had no health insurance, the place where she works doesn't offer any. She found out in May of this year that she had cataracts in both eyes and was rapidly losing her sight. We talked to many insurance companies before we went with this place because they assured us that they covered pre-existing conditons and after the 30 day waiting period which turned out to be a 60 day waiting period we went ahead scheduled her first cataract surgery. It was a success thankfully but she is completely blind in the other eye. Now we find out yesterday that they do not cover pre-existing condtions and my mother in law is responsible for this outrageous medical bill. I am so mad I could spit nails and am going to write a formal complaint to the attorney general because this company should be held liable.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Allstate
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster
  • General - I feel abused by this company
my vehicle was stolen and burned. it was stolen from the parking lot where I work. the adjuster hasn't come right out and said it but she is insinuating i had it done.she has dug into my personal and financial life. If I could not have afforded the car I would never had gotten it. It has been over four months. The adjuster talks down to people and doesn't want or like to answer questions but she has a lot of her own. My agent,I respect. She has heard and seen the way the adjuster is. Allstate could care less. They say."YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS WITH ALLSTATE". Thats fine as long as they are getting your money but forget all about you when you need them.I always thought allstate was the best out there. After reading other complaints I am beginning to see the true ALLSTATE. Would I recommend anyone to allstate. The answer is HELL NO. Thing is I have recommended people to them before. So everyone I did recommend I am sorry I sent you to them.I heard of someone else with the same problem as me. She also has been going through hell with allstate about her vehicle beening stolen and burned. The adjusters they have have NO heart or care about their customers just their paycheck. I know we all need jobs but come on now you need to help people... Read More

  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster

  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
  • Claim Handling - Fraud
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
Building Management Services I owned a direct P&C agency and an independent agency since 1971 and home fires was the hardest to explain to clients because of the time involved. I own investment property so between insuring and working contractors I understand how they work. I ran across a FEMA article on structural damages after a major loss which caught my attention but I was busy building my own home myself to follow up. But between the wind, rain, no show contractors and a hurricane I just about lost my mind, marriage and property. All I need to do was add to my experience loosing EVERYTHING, RECORDS, PHONE NUMBERS, CLOTHING, MEDICINES, PICTURES AND MAYBE FAMILY MEMBERS and I could FINALLY SEE WHAT MY CLIENTS WERE ACTUALLY GOING THROUGH. So I went on to become a contractor and working with International Code Code. Whether it is man made global warning or simply God does what he has always weather pattern changes must be dealt with just like we see in New Jersey. So we got others involved like the Better Business Bureau, Red Cross, Board of Realtors, Bureau of Insurance, building inspectors offices, Fire Departments and we worked behind the clients to see through their eyes. We had documented the very best and very wo... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: The Travelers Companies
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
The adjuster told us on several occassions we would receive the depreciaiton value of our claim if we spent the full repair amount. This was not true. On 9/10/2012 my home was flooded when my washing machine overflowed causing 1-2 inches of standing water in every room in the house. The insurance company had a mitigation company dispatched and an adjuster to clean up the standing water and estimate damages. Upon receiving the actual estimate via Email we had a telephone conference with the adjuster regarding the claim. The adjuster Scott Garland explained the depreciation value of the claim. He stated that if we spent the full amount of money the insurance company was going to give us for the damages, that we would receive the depreciation value on the claim (roughly $3,627.85). My wife told me that and I sent Mr. Garland and email asking if this was correct and he telephoned me and explained to me that as long as we spend the full $13981 of our insurance claim to repair the damages to our home, that the home would no longer be depreciated and we would receive the total amount for depreciation. Before we started to spend any money my wife telephoned our adjuster Scott Garland again and repeated the statement that if we spend the f... Read More

I have always purchased STD/LTD policy through an employer, and I did as well when I worked at SFC (Shoes for Crews, LLC). SFC offered STD/LTD policies post-tax, so deductions taken from my paycheck. I have been always purchased these policies, as backup in case I was in the situation of not be able to work for an extended period of time. SFC offered a STD/LTD policy from The Standard (Portland, OR), the policy itself of very expensive - I should have seen this warning sign. I had to go out for a lumbar fusion w/S1 nerve root decompression and support rods. I had been told recovery was anyway from three months to two years. So I went on FMLA using my vacation and sick pay. The corporation SFC is horrible to its employees about disabilites, illness and general overall care and safety. My recovery was going to be longer than the FMLA - so I decided to use the LTD. I asked SFC's HR dept for the STD/LTD paperwork as I wanted to file a claim, first I was told I could not (SFC is well known for violating employee civil rights, SFC has a lot of labor violations with DOL). I fought with SFC HR dept to file a claim, threatened to file complaint with DOL. So I was given the form to file a claim, if you went straight to The Standa... Read More

For over twenty years I have been paying for flood insurance in a wrong flood zone. My zone should be AH7 and instead I have been paying for A01 zone. For the past several months I have been in contact with my agent and with Allstate flood underwriting department but have gotten no refund. It is admitted by Allstate that an error has been made but they will not correct the problem. I am requesting a refund for overpayment of premium.... Read More
