Insurance Complaint against: American Senior Services, Inc.
Coverage Type: Life Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
  • Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
  • Marketing & Sales - Misrepresentation
  • Marketing & Sales - High Pressure Tactics
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I took out a Life Insurance policy with an over agressive agent by the name of Lydia Marquardt who misrepresented the policy. The name of the insurance company is: KSKJ Fraternal insurance OR "AMERICAN SLOVENIAN CATHOLIC UNION. THEIR ADDRESS IS: 2439 GLENWOOD AVENUE, JOIET, IL. 60435. (NOTE I had to put "American Senior Services, Inc. because it would not allow me to put KSKJ Fraternal Insurance") The policy was taken out for $5,000.00 with an anual premium of $338.85. I was 68 years of age, now I am 91 years old. The years have gotten away from me and I suddenly realize that I have paid into this in surance for 23 1/3 years for a total of $8,245.35. Which means that I have paid $3,245.35 over what the policy is worth. The "CASH IN" quote value they gave me is $4,381.45. I do not wish to continue premiums and I feel that the cash in value they quoted me is unaceptable. As I understood it when the Marquardt woman came to my home in Joliet, IL. that it would be paid in twenty years. What recourse do I have to either get my money back for misrepresentation by this ovedrly scrupulous agent or die! I do not and will not continue con tributing to her bonus of $338.85 a year. Please advise. Thank you for your cooperation... Read More

John, An insurance company is obligated to cash out your policy if you request it. If the policy limit is $5,000 and the cash out is $4,381.45 it probably makes sense to cash out the policy, invest it elsewhere or put it in the bank. The cash out value is based on a formula, so it may be a correct amount based on the type of policy you purchased. If this is a company you would like to forget about, cash out and leave them behind.

  • General - I feel abused by this company
Told them we were not renewing our policy due to how they handled our claim for Sandy- had to call 2 months just to get an adjuster- never returned calls. Then THEY PICKED who was sent for repairs- had no say. DID not receive a bill for renewal 5-16-13- since we told them we were not renewing. I have another company which the policy started 5-16. Received notice from my mortgage that they received a bill and they paid it!!! NEVER WAS THIS DONE LIKE THIS BEFORE- THEY WOULD SEND US A BILL WHICH WE WOULD SEND TO OUR MORTGAGE CO. They KNEW we were not renewing- I called them and they still have not sent my money back --$1356.00. This was FRAUD!!!... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: MetLife
Coverage Type: Life Insurance

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • PolicyHolder Service - Unfair Negotiation
I have been a policy holder of Met Life since the 1930's. In 1961 my policy was converted from $5,000 to $40,000. The annual premium went to $360 with interest paying the balance of the premium. Now I'm told that beginning in Sept.2013, the premium will go to over $4,000 for the first year with annual increases thereafter, due to the low interest rates. Now at age 83 I,m forced to give up $40,000 of life insurance because I can't afford these exhorbitant premiums. Can anything be done to help?... Donald, Depending on the type of policy you purchased, MetLife may be correct. You know your health better than anyone else and it may be time to make a decision on whether it is worth paying that high of an annual premium for $40K in coverage. We suggest contacting a reputable life insurance broker and discuss your situation with them. They will have a better understanding of the rates and coverage availability in your area.

Insurance Complaint against: Farmers Insurance Group
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Service
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I have been covered by farmers insurance for 50 years and never had any problems, the last (about) 3 years every six months my insurance has gone up not 10-20 dollars it goes up 100 dollars or more! Last month we had one claim of 1600 hundred dollars 1600 hundred not thousand this month my policy went up 266.60! I have all my coverage with Farmers Life home auto and if this is the kind of discount they give keep it I have tried to talk to my agent to explain to me why every six months we get such a large increase and it is unbelievable that rates are going up at this rate there is no reason to stay with the same insurance company because you don't get no discount for all of the coverage you have life auto home. I don't know of any one who could afford a insurance company who raises rates this extreme! Every time we talk to our agent he says well that is a big truck and if you had a accident some one is going to get hurt )NO LIE) or the best one the rates went up ok but enough is enough! Hate to leave farmers but there is no reason to stay I could get this kind od treatment from any one... Read More

Farm Bureau is one of the worst insurance companies out there. And this is from my own dealings with them you need to go to a different company. And don't go to ALLSTATE or State Farm. In Ohio you can get a good company like Central they are headquartered there in OHIO.

Insurance Complaint against: MetLife
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I have had Metlife Dental for as long as the University has had dental insurance, but I never used it until recently. After having a bad dental experience, I went to three different dentists to figure out who to go to. All three agreed on the treatment of one tooth, but there was a wide difference of opinion on the other troublesome teeth, so I went to Tufts Dental School to eliminate the conflict of interest I felt I was experiencing. They took out the broken tooth that all other three dentists agreed on, and started procedures for an implant, what all three other dentists recommended--and all the team who oversee the Tufts dental students. Metlife's in house dentist denys the procedure was necessary and won't pay the claim! Where did he get his degree??? I have just drafted a letter to them, and will send it to the MA Insurance Commissioner. What else can be done?... Read More

Sandra, You have taken the right first step. Let the IC intervene on your behalf and see if that resolves the issue. Beyond that you can appeal the "in house dentist's" decision with MetLife directly.

Just picked my son from school, after leaving school a rage driver was riding my car honking in a school zone. Once stopped the guy continued honking so was about to get out of car and go yell at the idiot then he intentionally slammed into my car from the rear end when we were stopped, swerving over the curb and alomost hitting several kids. I should have beat his ass but called the police. He assaulted my son and I with his car, took his insurance and told him the police were coming. He then fled the scene. My 50,000 car is damaged and its his fault to replace, especially geico insurance, they refuse to pay for the damages so want to file a complaint against this Geico insurance and will file complaints with every state agency and voice how this shady company should not be allowed to treat victims this way. I want my car fixed! This was an assualt on my son and i and now my car is damaged!!!!... Read More

Been 9 months since a State Farm client totaled my less than 6 month old vehicle. (State Farm has been in possession of vehicle longer than I but I have made all payments). Rosalind Williams is the incompetent appraiser (left over $3,500 of items from the sticker off of her evaluation). I still disagree with the amount but told over a month ago to send the proceeds and I will handle the remainder that I believe I am due as a follow-up (tough to make payments on a vehicle you do not have while they give the shaft to ya for nearly a year). Now they want me to send them the title before they send funds. Not going to happen as I tell them to come get at my convenience as I will not give STATE FARM or any of their cronies another things until I have my money - they already have my car, hopefully you can understand why I feel this way!! STATE FARM is acting as nothing short of a thug and Rosalind Williams idiotic.... Read More

George, You have a provision in your policy call the appraisal provision. You can demand that State Farm enter into appraisal (which is somewhat like mediation but not exactly). This will give you an opportunity to demonstrate how they miscalculated their evaluation. Look into this first, but do not give up the title and you should definitely speak to an attorney about that issue.

Dental claims were submitted to Metlife. However, they keep denying the claim stating it was not submitted in a timely manner! It was submitted the day after the treatment, again one month after that and one more month after that. Metlife is trying to keep from paying on claims because of false reasons.... Read More

I work for the State of Michigan. Citizens Managementis my Policy Holder for both my Workers Comp Insurance and my Long Term Disability Insurance.I was Injured on the job so I filed a workers Comp claim and was immediately denied even though it's a reinjury that the insurance company paid for before. I was not pleased so I filed a claim with my Long Term Diability Insurance company and was immediately denied. Even though I pay for my long term disability insurance, I was denied because Citizens management holds both policies (I think this is a conflict of Interest). When I threatened to report them my claims adjuster ask me to send in my claim again and I was approved for 10 Months. After ten months of paying my wages Citizens ManagementC decides to send me to a So Called Independent Doctor(Independent of me but Totally dependent on Citizens Management to be paid for the examination and the medical report) so I have been denied disability coverage again even though my Doctors deem me unable to do my jobbecause of my injuries. My Employer has since then Layed off my whole department soI find myself Injured and Layed off from my jobI worked for 25 years,I can't draw unemployment because I can't work with a back injury.I have no inc...
