Insurance Complaint against: UnitedHealth Group

Representative visited my home and gave me a 2013 rate. I also got the 2013 rates off line and from other agents. At this date November 23, 2013 the agents do not have a book with the increased rate. The agents and members do not have a choice, since December is last date you can sign up. I payed the yearly payment in full. Then 2 weeks later, I received a payment coupon for $210 for the month of December 2013. I was confused since I had payed in full and thought the coupon was for first payment in Jan 2014. I called the company and was told there was a percentage rate increase after I had signed a contract at a rate agreed upon. I feel they should accept my payment in full since they did not reveal their rates by the deadlne date. The company is allowing agents to rewrite policies upgrading policies from one plan to other and then charging rates at age of 65 when they were first allowed to come into plan. How is that fair that their agents are allowed to conduct business in this illegal manner? My agent is honorable and is losing customers because of the lack of current rates. Elderly customers are being held by the ying yang!!!! I do not feel that the agent was at fault!!! FIX IT!!... Read More

I enrolled in Geico's auto insurance program last December and received a rate of $499.00 for a six month premium. My car is a 2011 Subaru Outback lease and I have a clean driving record with no claims and ongoing defensive driver status. The next six-month premium was $523 and this most recent one was $548. When I questioned what has been a 10& rise in premiums in under a year, I was told that Geico had requested and been granted a rate increase from New York State and I had received all discounts possible. The representative with whom I spoke said that a clean driving record with no claims and regularly updated defensive driving courses made no difference; the rate hike would stand. I am in the process of taking my business elsewhere and, as a shareholder in Berkshire Hathaway, which owns a controlling share of Geico, intend to inform shareholder services about Geico's bait and switch practices and refusal to stabilize its premiums for any longer than six months....   • General - I feel abused by this company
called for dental insurance & was quoted a price of 35.00/month- but i only could pay monthly if i allowed them to take directly from my checking account- i said no- the rep said i could pay quarterly to which i agreed- when i asked how much it was 113.00 per quarter- i questioned this as this is 64.00 per year more- i was told it was a processing fee- if paying 3 months in advance entitles the company to a processing fee- i am quite flabbergasted- usually paying in advance offers a discount not a penalty- i feel ripped off- my choice is the have the company dip into my checking account every month ( which i don't do for anyone) or to pay a penalty of $8.00 per quarter - the rep kept saying it was a processing fee ( what kind of processing fee for paying in advance???) i feel this is a rip off.... My 88 year old Mother had been paying premiums since 1979, 33 years. In 2012 she became ill and moved from her home of 42 years into an assisted living apartment. Due to her illness and change of address she missed one premium payment of $10. I am her son and the personal representative of her will. I contacted the insurance company to advise of her death on September 22, 2012. They advised me as a result of the one missed payment no payments will be made on the $1000 policy. For 33 years she had been faithful with her payments until she became ill. Her beneficiary is her granddaughter who now will get nothing from the policy.... Read More

After over 30 years combined coverage for auto and home owners and other insurance, I was put into an unfair situation and rendered an unfair settlement by an insurance company that advertises it places it customers “in good hands”. My home sustained hale damage in a storm. It was in a condo development where about 14 other homes faced similar damage. All l4 other owner received settlements from their insurance companies that lead to a roof replacement. The roof replacement was because the shingles required for repair the roof were no longer manufactured. Apparently all owners had a policy that required matching shingles. I was told by Allstate that my policy also required matching shingles but since my roof had a few unmatched shingles installed form previous damage, they did not need to replace my roof. Instead they sent me a check for less than $100 claiming that the cost of repair would be less than $600 to repair. Since the shingles could not be matched then technically the roof could not be repaired properly. The Condo Association has by-laws that prohibit me from having a roof where the shingles don’t match. A Safeway insurance client crash my car,They declared it total lost, is been already two months and no deal is been settle. this "Company is a joke" They never answer the phone or returns messages. I show up in their office and the front office "LADY" was so RUDE It is very frustrated when you have to deal with this kind of so unprofesional people, I wonder who is on top of this Company, who ever is, need to change his desk and chair,cause is to BIG for His/Her lidership: I'm over here with no transportation for two long months is ridicules SAFEWAY INSURANCE you are a Big JOKE. I have been a loyal customer of Liberty Mutual for the past 17 years and have never filed a claim. Approximatley 8 months ago, I decided to take my vehicle insurance, which is also with Liberty mutual, to State Farm due to a better rate. Friends of mine who were also with Liberty Mutual warned me that they would now cancel my homeowners policy since I no longer had my vehicle with them. They were right, I just recieved a non-renewal letter stating that they would not be renewing my policy in an effort to protect themselves from future events. I called them to get a better explanation and they advised that I was ramdomly chosen. What a coinsident that everyone that has cancelled their auto insurance is also ramdomly chosen. After nearly 20 years been a loyal customer of AFI our family is not getting any support. In October 2012 we contacted American Family Insurance Company to report a sinking problem of the slab in the family room. Property claim adjuster came to see the problem and he determent that slab is sinking due to "settling". We questioned that conclusion because the house is over 35 years old. Claim was denied. Shortly after we called Plumbing company to inspect our sewer pipes which located underneath a family room and then go to main sewer line outside. After camera visual inspection it was determined and recorded that there is a sewer pipe collapse at 10-15' which places location in the middle of my family room. Second collapse is at 30-35'(location to be determined). Every time anything going thru the sewer pipe it propagates the problem by washing away grouts. The camera was completely submerged under "water" at 10-15' and 30-35'. Next day, we called claim adjuster with AFI once again. We also e-mailed them the report provided by Plumbing company. I explained the significance of the situation, that our family room is over a lake of sewer and my powder-room is floating in the air because 2x4 are not attached to the slab anymor... Read More

Many of us lost everything during the storm, so insurance companies were overburdened with claims. I happened to make a claim the morning after the storm. They said within 48 hours they would get back to me. 2 weeks went by and after constant calling those two weeks they finally sent adjusters. Although they seemed fair at first and after a promise of just another 48 hours. I waited double the time to get an answer on what type of settlemet money I would be getting. The settlement was far less than three different contractors were looking for to do the job. The company was not prepared for this huge storm like most of us, but some insurance companies coped with it a lot better.... Read More

like you i called in to the company the morning of the 29th they call back to tell me there would and appraisal service out by the 5th of nov. ha ha they did not come out unitl the 20th. and then the denials came. not covered for my first floor damages from flood nor the contents. what! and now i am fighting with the agent(weichert finanaical) would sold the policy and told me i was covered -now back pedaling stating that because of fema they can not pay the claim but sold me insurance and took my money for 3 years. someone need to get the attorney generals office on them .sea bright ,nj

I had not until just recently paid attention to a TV commercial that gives safe driving rewards in form of a bonus discount to safe drivers. I put myself in this catagory being that I have not filed a claim pertaining to by auto for over 30 years.Upon contacting my agent about getting the reward I was informed it does not apply to New York residents.May I ask why the hell not.Is the curriency used any different in the paying of premiums in other states different than in N.Y.I find this to be very,very wrong and do intend to contact the Attorney General here in N.Y. state and find this to be very discriminating.Thanks for nothing and I eagerly await your response....
