Insurance Complaint against: Travel Guard
Coverage Type: Travel Insurance

  • General - I feel abused by this company
I cancelled a planned European trip six months in advance of my departure date and was told by the travel agent to file directly with Travel Guard for reimbursement. Three months of emails, letters, and evasive phone calls produced nothing but frustration and a pittance check for 1/6 th of what I had paid in hotel, airline and other costs. It was suggested to me to contact the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Attorney General's Office of Insurance Fraud, and only after their intervention was I finally reimbursed for all costs. If you have to deal with this company, I suggest you keep detailed records of dates of phone calls and all correspondence sent because the proverbial run-around will be voluminous. Travel Guard will claim you never sent the proper back up information, so make copies of all correspondence and send via registered mail. Good luck trying to reach the "claims manager" personally on the phone. You will have to run the gauntlet of several buffers before that happens and when and if you do, expect a sugar-y few words, but no money. The settlement check they offered was insulting. It took a good lawyer who deals with these issues to finally get my moneyand it took them three weeks to do it. Bless the AG's office... Read More

  • General - I feel abused by this company
I have a 20 year term life insurance policy underwritten by Farmers Insurance and it has been in place since 2007.All premiums have been paid on time until I received a cancellation letter . It seems I did not receive nor did I get a phone call to say two premiums were not paid. I then called my agent and paid the missing payments asap. I was told it was reinstated and end of story .I then was asked to fill out a health evaluation survey which I did timely and accurately. I have had a heart attack 6 months after the policy went into effect .I then after 3 months was told the policy was under review and may not be reinstated ! I have the policy and documentation to substantiate all payments on my end. Twice I was told after payment was made that the policy was reinstated and I mysteriously received correspondence there after requesting a phone call to answer where my health questionnaire was ? I feel not only that I have not been accurately approached over the premiums as well the handling of the said reinstatement process.... Read More

10/8/2013 9:06 PM Maria Greene State General Agent American Income Life Insurance Company Subsidiary of the Torchmark Corporation (NYSE: TMK) www.ailife.com Dear Ms. Greene and Ms. Erika Hudson Thank you very much for your emails, I wrote you several weeks ago to let you know that I had accepted a position with another firm. I appreciate the time that I spent with Erika, she is very good at what she does. Everyone there at your office are very professional and helpful. My reason for this email is to ask for my refund that I spent to review the online studies and work preparation for taking the exam. I never used the online sessions because I accepted another position. Can you please send me my refund. I gave Erika cash and she put the charges on her debit card, I came with cash to pay for the online courses because that is what I was told to do. Since I never used the training can you please mail me my money. I need it as soon as possible, please. Insurance Complaint against: Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Cancellation
We purchased our home on 08/20/2013. The insurance was purchased on 08/18/2013 before the home was purchased due to a VA requirement that stated the home had to have insurance before the home could be purchased. On 09/24/2013 Nationwide sent us a signature form asking 1)that the trampoline had been removed from the property 2)that the above ground pool had been removed from the property 3)that the steps on the porch were at least 3ft in height 4)that the animal has been permanently removed from the property. All these question were confirmed, signed and sent back to the insurance company with the insurance agent's confirmation. On 10/08/2013 we received a letter from the underwriters stating that they (the underwriters) completed a Home Care Review of the property and were going to cancel our insurance on the house because there was a trampoline on the property. We called the agent and the agent had to explain to the underwriters that there was never any trampoline on the property and that no such trampoline existed even today. The underwriters finally called back and stated that we were safe for now (what does it mean that we are safe for now?) My concern is that the underwriters never bothered to go to the... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Allstate
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
I live in California, My father lived in Midland, Texas, He died in March 2012. I had continued my father's insurance coverage with Allstate Texas Lloyd's and never thought that there would be a problem. Allstate Texas Lloyd's was aware that the house was furnished and would be unoccupied until sold. Just prior (30 days) to us arriving in Midland, Texas I received a large water bill from Midland City Water Dept. I contacted the water department immediately and the next door neighbors to see what the problem might be. The Water department shut off the water and they and the neighbors both checked around the house and concluded that the water was just going down a drain in the house. Because of legal issues and probate it took almost a year to arrange the sale of his house. My wife and I were in Midland, Texas in March 2013 meet with my step mother's sister to sell my father’s house and his car. When we arrive in Midland to stay at the house and opened the front door, we found that the ceilings in the central part of the house, entryway, family room and kitchen had fallen out and there was water damage in most of the house and some mold. I reported the incident to Allstate immediately and they mentioned limits on mold coverage and... Read More

Contact an attorney, not just any attorney. Someone who knows how to file a Bad Faith Claim. These attorneys will take the claim on for a percentage so that you don't have to come out of pocket. IN almost every state you are allowed to reopen the claim for 3 years. But do not wait! The department of insurances in each and every state, are in the pockets of the insurance companies. They are not your friends, You are just someone that they do not have to answer to.

Mr. Vogel, Your letter states I did not mention having asthma from the beginning, that is not true! Every time I spoke with an adjuster or cleaning person yes I did mention that. You are looking for anyway out of helping us further. I have great direspect for Foremosts tactics and ignoring the smell of lingering chemicals in our clothing and former home. 1. The report you sent me does not address chemical smells which are a primary issue lingering in our clothing! 2. The report will not print. Please send it in regular email form to print. 3. I continue to disagree with your conclusion that our clothing is wearable and usable to us. 4. I am not willing to accept the dressers because they stunk as well, Josh, his delivery men, and all of us saw the smoke and smelled the chemicals on them. 5.I have reported you to the Oregon Insurance Commisioner for your underhanded handling of my claim, forcing cleaners specific to your benefit on us at the time of the fire. I would never recommend any of them to anyone. You are responsible for the loss of my home by sending me to your programmed subcontractors. Your failure to admit I have told everyone about my asthma is unreal. Your lack of concern for doing the right thing by us is also un... Read More

Frustrated, disappointed but not surprised that a corporation would misrepresent their selves. Six yrs. ago I was sold two policies based on how the Field mgr. presented them to me. My initial request was for whole life policies.Twice they have cancelled at least one of them. There error. Then they sent out another 3 agents & trainees over the years. My bigger problem is that this company was incompetent by allowing inadequate, misleading & unethical agents loose on unsuspecting prospective clients. All of this resulted in me loosing the policies because I couldn't come up with the LUMP sum pymt along with the TRIPLED scheduled pymt. Again the rich gets richer & the poor man gets scrooged!!... Husband died February 3rd 2013. A claim was filed and it is now October 2nd 2013 and still nothing. Really? August 21st we received a letter from American Ntl stating they are still waiting on records from 7 different Dr's and facilities. I called each office and every one of them except the main hospital said they sent the records. The ins co is just sitting on them. I called the hospital and the records dept said they requested a $54 check from the ins co a month prior and American Ntl still had not sent them a check so they can release the records. After 3 phone calls to Joanne w/American Ntl. the hospital finally received a check on 9/23 and the records were sent 9/24. What's the hold up now? This claim is being contested because my husband died with the 2 year contest period. Fine, he was healthy when the policy was purchased. We have nothing to hide. Contest already, check out the records and do your job! He became very sick a few months after we purchased this policy. We (including his 9 year old son) watched him die this awful death from cancer. Why do you make us continue to suffer American Ntl? I'm going to file a complaint with the state. Thank God the State government isn't shut down.... Read More
