We have had our house and car since 2006. We have had 2 claims; one for a new roof because of hail damage, another one for a flood caused by a broken water pipe inside the bathroom. Nationwide had cancelled our insurance. We have contacted several companies and they will not insure our house. If the companies cancel policies because people had to use it, why do we need insurance if they are going to cancel it when it is used? That does not make any sense. We paid all that money and they turn around and cancel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are really upset, our house has to be insured as part of the mortgage. We are retired and our income is very limited. We have had coverage from State Farm for approximately 30 years. I honestly don't know why we have stayed with them,because on the few occasions we have attempted to put in a claim, there is always some reason it is not covered. The last loss we incurred was when a tenant took it upon herself to butcher our yews. We were told we had a $1000 deductible,and not only that,another $500 if there was no intent. State Farm is a ripoff ! I have noticed State Farm collects those premiums without fail,though. This is fraud as far as I am concerned. Recently my son stole my car in the middle of the night to go joy riding. He did not have my permission and in fact was forbidden to drive my vehicle. He was excluded as a driver in my State Farm policy. He wrecked my vehicle which was totaled (est value 2 to 3 thousand dollars.) I was called the scene of the accident and filed a charge against my son for vehicle theft. He is currently incarcerated for the charge. I filed a claim with State Farm and was denied compensation, because my son was the driver. I told them he did not have permission to drive the car and had stolen the vehicle yet they still refused to pay my claim. I have been a customer of State Farm for over 40 years (house, auto, boat, motorcycle). My personal driving record is impeccable (no accidents, tickets). I feel that State Farm has treated me unfairly. As a lifelong customer I feel I deserve better treatment.... Read More

Last may I changed insurance companies and acquired auto and home owners insurance. Soon I received 3 policies and though I had home owners insurance but got no bills for it.. Went to my agents office the first time and agent wasn't there but was assured by his secretary that he would call the next day, he didn't.. About 3 weeks later I went there again and wanted to know why I didn't get a bill for home owners policy, he didn't have an answer but assured me he would call the next day, again he didn't.. Now abut 3 weeks after the last visit I am wondering if I even have a home owners policy.. I was sent 3 policies but after looking at them closer they are for my 2 vehicles and one motorcycle. NO home owners policy, I know he new I wanted one because I seen him at my house looking around and now he is refusing to call me.. We did not see listing for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York. My mother Harriett is covered under Mediblue Plus HMO for 4 years now (a Medicare contract provider). The company just REFUSES to address our need, despite 2 emails to their site and 2 very LONG phone calls to fix what ought to be a simple issue: changing her primary care physician on her 2014 ID card. So far they have mailed us 2 cards with a dr.'s name from 5 years ago and cannot seem to fix the error, making it worse by ignoring us now. This will have very negative implications in 2014 when my mother who is elderly and has multiple medical problems needs care and the card she has will be rejected by her PCP and other providers because it is wrong! Clearly, they have incompetent customer service providers, a terrible web site where the need to fix the error and get some answer even is just ignored day after day. This means something VERY IMPORTANT TO US BOTH, and despite our efforts, nothing is getting done. We cannot even get our home phone updated or change our personal info. on the web site. I am in a wheelchair and live in a mobel home. On December 8th, 2013 I went into my utility room to let my dog out my front wheel on my chair almost went through the floor. Back in September I had found water on my utility room floor so I called the water softer company because it looked like that was the problem to me. They came out said yes fixed it and charged me $290. I thought problem fixed. My bedroom is on the other side of that wall the water softer is in and had been leaking and I was not aware of that until my girl friend went to move Christmas presents that afternoon on that side of the bed they were soaking wet. My box spring and mattress sets on the floor so it does not move and is easy for me to tranfer from my chair to the bed, it was soaked as well. I can not get my chair on that side of the bed so I did not know it was wet. She discovered that side was soaked with water and the night stand has mold on it the carpet and floor in the bedroom and utility room is ruined. My bedroom smells like a mushroom from the mold, even the box springs had soaked up water. We took pictures and filed a claim. Hi Christopher, I am sorry to tell you, but this type of claim is generally denied. Your policy will clearly state that this type of a claim is not covered. Normally, for a water loss to be covered, it must meet the following criteria: 1. Originate from within the confines of the dwelling 2. Occur from a sudden and accidental burst of water 3. Adjustor claims that hell damage was not in the range of policy written and there was pre exsisting damage. The vehical was inspected by one of agents workers and the vehical was in good condition with no damages, so the policy was written.
