A Geico policy holder hit me from the rear. I filed a claim and they found their policy holder at fault. A few hours following the decision I was told that they have decided to stand by their policy holder since our stories are conflicting. Their policy holder initially admitted fault and promised to handle any fees incurred from our accident. I will be contacting an attorney to ensure this matter is handled properly as I am sure Geico is trying to avoid repairing my vehicle.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Assurant
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Forced Placement
I file a claim that happens on Sept 1, 2014. I had force insurance which is escrow in my mortgage payments. I had my ceiling to come down in 2 room and water on the floor damaging my personal property, but I know my property is not cover. The adjuster Paul White told me that the roof was not cover but they would take care of the ceilings and the floor. He said that the ceiling and rooms was cause by windstorm damage. How the windstorm damage happen in side of my home but not on the outside. The roof has a grand oak tree over that area of my house. The limbs and branches that the wind had blew down due to the weather, plus we had very bad storm during that time. I took him that my cabinets was damage due to 2 inches of water of the floor that cause the ceiling to cave inn. He said, “it was hard to tell, because of that he is not going to buy me cabinets\\\"!! I did not know he was the insurance company! Very unprofessional!! I disagree with his estimate. Very disappointed!! However, my roof should be covered, my cabinets should be covered and the rooms 3 that Paul White has on the estimate involve should be covered. You pay for homeowner insurance for years but now you need it they do NOT want to pay you want you are in title to... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Hartford
Coverage Type: Disability Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
Hartford Policy # U03126172 Life Access Accelerated Benefit Rider Under the terms of the policy and my recent shoulder repair, the company is denying the claim. Since the operation, August 12, 2014, I am still unable to work and lift my arm normally. I am unable to properly cook for myself, dressing is certainly a problem as well as bathing. Additionally, due to having cadaver skin implanted on my shoulder to hold the tendon in place, there is swelling and a possible infection which will cause additional suffering. Hartford is not complying with the terms of the policy and flatly denied the claim as per the letter dated September 22, 2014.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Anthem
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I\\\'m writing to you to ask for help and advice as to what to do next. I have been dealing with chronic back pain for the last 8 years. My Neurosurgeon Michael Boland (The Best in St. Louis) says I need spinal fusion surgery. My wife\\\'s insurance Anthem BlueCross says it is not a medical necessity. Our health insurance switched to a high risk plan. My wife pays $67 a week for this and our deductible is $4000. Now that we have reached our deductible and paid about $7000 out of pocket, they are refusing a surgery that I need. I make about $37,000 a year and now because of the pain I am physically unable to work. I can not go to work high on doctor prescribed narcotics and I can not work because of the pain. Dr. Boland says the pain will go away if the surgery is performed, also from having a crushed disk rubbing bone on bone my vertebrae are trying to fuse themselves together and if this happens I will be crippled. I Do not want to be disabled, I want to work. If I do not have this surgery I will lose my job. My doctor and I have both appealed their decision and still have been denied. I also filed a formal complaint with the Missouri Insurance Consumer complaints department. If I end up losing my job and on disability because of... Read More

My dad had a life insurance policy from \\\\\\\'93. My Step-mom fraudulently changed the policy 2 1/2 prior to his death when he was in a home for Alzheimer\\\\\\\'s. MetLife\\\\\\\'s own investigator said that the change wasn\\\\\\\'t valid; yet they claim they paid in \\\\\\\"Good Faith\\\\\\\" and can\\\\\\\'t figure substantiate if fraud was committed. Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Life Insurance

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • Underwriting - Unfair Surcharge
  • PolicyHolder Service - Payment Not Credited
  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
I started the life insurance policy shortly after buying a home to cover home expenses etc. The payment per month was $25.00 per month. But after my health screening it went up to 47.00 per month. The reason it went up was because my physician prescribed me an inhaler because I had been recovering from flu like symptoms and I was needing to continue to train to prepare for a 230 mile bike ride. So, the doctor wrote \"asthma like\" symptoms. So, the nurse reviewing this for the insurance company said I had to get a note from the doctor that stated I do not have asthma. The doctor provided this note and it was provided to the nurse. The nurse then insisted that I would have to have a pulmonary function test performed and then that would satisfy the health screening and I would get the lower rate. I have now had the pulmonary function screening and have asked my Insurance agent to submit this information and have my monthly payment reduced to the $25.00 and refund me the difference that I have over-payed these many many months. So, far the agent has not done anything and I have provided all the information that was asked. I have called and emailed the agent and I have not heard back at all.... Read More
