Insurance Complaint against: Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield

Prior to my gaulbladder surgery last year I was given the usual tests (scopes etc). I had the surgery. No problem. Then the bills started to come in. Horizon denied all claims, stating that I have a pre-existing condition. (Which I don't). Approx 3 years prior I had a hysterectomy. Prior to that surgery they did the same tests. They tested all my abdominal organs. Because I had these "tests" before Horizon is claiming that I have a pre existing condition. CSR are rude and even when prior insurance carriers spoke with them they admit that we are right but refuse to pay these bills. I've heard from my doctors billing dept that Horizon is famous for doing this to their new customers. The first time they file a claim it is always denied, due to pre existing conditions. I've called so many times and I've even spoken to supervisors (who refuse to give their full names or their emp id #. Everyone is waiting to get paid. My credit rating is very important to me and I'm still waiting. They told me that I can appeal ALL these bills, but it is obvious that they are wrongfully denying a good claim. Every month they take over $350.00 out of my bank account but they refuse to provide the services I'm paying for. ... Read More

My husband Clarence D. Pottorff needs to have surgey on four disk in his neck. He has failed every nerve test. Has had MRI's and has been going to the doctor for this issue for years. The spinal doctor and the neurologist has said the only way to fix this issue is surgery. My husband has had this insurance company for the past 10 years. If my husband does not get this surgery he will continue to get worse. He will become paralyzed from the neck down or die. He can not ride are horses pick up anything over 30lbs. He says sometimes it feels like a fire cracker going off in his neck and he can feel it from the tips of his toes to the top of his head. He brought theis to the doctors attention and he said that is his spinal cord rubbing against the bone. The surgent wants to use two artifical disk and fuse two disk. The insurance company has denied the first claim so we appealed it on November 8, 2013 and they denied it again on November 11, 2013. The insurance comapany says it is investigational. Surgerys will stay investigational if surgents cannot do them. I dont want to lose my husband his quality of life is diminishing. My husband is only 46 years old. Please help my family. Hi Ted, Contact Dennis Rosene in Newport Beach. He is an excellent insurance agent, and he is with State Farm. They can get you a policy with only a $1 monthly fee if you want to pay monthly. No financing at all! He is at 949-645-6000.

We own a 41 foot park travel trailor, that was recently damaged by heavy rains this summer! We called Progressive Ins. Co. that have had for 4 yrs.at $1100. per yr. Notified Ins. Agent who had it moved to Parliament Coach Repair in Clearwater. We paid a friend to disconnect for moving! $600.00. It was taken there and repaired a large slideout badly damaged by water, at a cost of $12,757.00. Progressive refused to pay anything, even the towing all and all that was done! We were covered for towing also! We were never told that they do not cover water damage when we signed up for the Insurance! We are Seniors, that feel we have been taken advantage of! Can you help us as we had to put $10,000. on Discover in order to get our Trailor back right away! We are planning to pay this off in 30 days so no interest! It is putting our savings pretty low! Tristate Consumer Insurance is a company you want to stay far away from, despite their competitive rates. The real test of an insurance company is not the rate it charges but how well it responds to and pays your claims. This company is fraudulent when it comes to settling claims and should be put out of business. I have experienced both sides with Tristate with vehicle insurance and with home insurance. Like many other who have reported, they did drop my auto insurance without cause as my premiums from excellent driving record was not profitable enough for them. My home’s roof was damaged by Hurricane Sandy. They literally refused to pay, and instead gave me, after arbitration, the grand sum of $4000 to “patch” my roof, according to what their estimator and process recommended. I ended up paying $12000 to replace the roof. My next door neighbor’s roof was fully replaced within two weeks by State Farm insurance without a hassle. When you see that company’s president Penny Hart herself taking the time to attend mediation cases against the company all week, you know that there is something wrong with that picture. We have been a customer of erie insurance for over 30 yrs! My mother became gravely ill around the 15th of Sept. we were at her beside until the end! She past in Oct! With the stress and loss of my mom I forgot to pay my bill! It was due Sept 29 2013, always payed a one time payment on line! So on oct 19th I went online and payed my homeowner s insurance , I received my conformation # 10 days latter they canceled us , So i called My Agent, She said she didn't no, but looked like insufient funds, I told her that wasn't possible because we have over drat protection, after searching , I'm the one to find my problem ,I accidentally hit one number wrong of my checking account, 10 days after I thought I payed , never got a call to let me know from my agent, I had been to Charles mills office twice, to find out,they didn't want to forgive my mistake because I had 2 claims in 3 yrs, one the hail storm, the other, ice storm, both was an act of God, 32 yrs with this company ,this company has caused me mental and physical stress, and they should be more professional , thank you very much for taking the time to read my complaint, sandy Robinson... I have had both auto and homeowners ins. with Allstate in Illinois for the past 12 years. My agent there was always ready for any questions. I did not have any claims, always paid premiums on time. Now I retired to Florida, was set up with agent Carolyn Hersch in Hudson, Fl. who never returned my calls. My premiums doubled without my knowing or authorization. I was forced to move to a new company being I am now on a fixed income and saving myself two-thirds of that premium. I am being billed for the last month with Allstate without my knowledge and threatened to go to collections. I would not recommend anyone in their right mind to buy Allstate.... Read More

Hi Patricia, If you were double-covered for the time you were with Allstate and the new carrier, Allstate cannot legally charge you. Simply send in a copy of your new declaration page, and they must backdate your cancellation and refund the portion of time you were double-covered. If your agent won't return your calls, contact Allstate directly and let them know.
