Insurance Complaint against: GHI
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Service
  • PolicyHolder Service - Incompetent Employees
  • PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
GHI was my secondary health insurance carrier until January 1, 2013. I mailed them notice in early January that I dropped my primary health insurance coverage and (through my wife) they were now my primary health insurance carrier. In late January I mailed them the official documentation from my former primary health insurance company that I was no longer insured by them. Weeks later my wife the policy holder, over the phone confirmed with them they were my primary insurance carrier. I continued to receive notices from my medical practitioners that GHI refused to pay them insisting they were my secondary carrier. My wife verified again over the telephone their records reflected GHI was my primary health insurance carrier. With no telephone number to fax documents to (they claim there isn't one) and no email address to communicate with them, there is little I can do other than to follow their intentionally obfuscating communication practice. Still I get complaints from my providers and the bills are in the thousands. Over 2 weeks ago I mailed them again the official documentation from my former primary health insurance company indicating I was no longer insured by them. Today I received bill from one of my providers for $699.38, ha... Read More

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations

"I have been an Amica customer for 40 years homeowner and auto. It has been a point of pride that I have been with company for so long. So when we had 38" of snow this winter my huband noticed that my garage roof was sagging in the middle. So with the utmost confidence I called Amica. An adjuster was sent out he filed his report. All a sudden Amica is sending an engineer to check the garage. I was happy at first thinking that the engineer would know everything wrong with my garage. When I questioned the claim handler his exact words were "just because you have been a customer for 40 years and recommended us to other people you think we should just write you a check". I was so upset I started crying. Today the claim handler called and said No we aren't going to pay money on the claim. Why, well he said that it was natural settling or wasn't build right wasn't quite sure why it's saggy only that this wasn't covered. Then tells me that the engineer went to the townhall and found a picture of my house from 2001 and after blowing it up really large they can can see a sag in my roof. I had a new roof put on 5 years ago and no one mentioned a sag. You can see that the weight of the snow pushed the wall between the garage doors off the fo... Read More

A water damage claim for a pipe bursting was called "caused by a dripping pipe," the claim was denied and the mold coverage was ignored. My refund for cancelling rental insurance was held, "just in case you got future ins. with us..." My spouse had a minor fender bender and it was placed under my name as having the accident, a person not on my Deed was placed on my homeowner's insurance, an accident clearly caused by a driver running a stop sign was claimed 10% my fault and 90% theirs until I asked to speak to every supervisor they had, I was treated by two claim reps so rudely and one had every excuse not to transfer me to his supervisor. On another water damage claim, it took 3 weeks for the agent to come out and look at. I was told I was not contacted because they had the wrong claim number listed. I was also told that we would be put up for the weekend and that's it. When the plumber needed an extra day, I was told we were not getting it. I told him we were not going back to a home with no water. He said "I didn't know you didn't have water, yet the claim was for my main pipe corroding and we were in the house for those 3 weeks unable to wash clothes or dishes. I was accused of skipping out of the hotel we were put in wit... Read More

This is wrong on several accounts. One the reading on page 12 of your insurance policy if you have what is called a HO-3 policy covers just this. I would call an attorney or a Public Adjuster in your area. If you are in North or South Carolina you can send it to me and I will have a Public Adjuster contact you back e-mail me at [email protected]

Last year our homeowners insurance DOUBLED, I am disabled and on a fixed income. I had to go to the Office of our agent Dan Odem, we had to reduce some of our coverage, which I did not like. Then we had to make arrangments to pay it twice a year not just once as we done for 12 years, $2,355.00 a year is alot when you have to cut out other thinks, like gifts for the grandkids for Xmas, birthdays etc. I am very upset, I am a transplant heart recipient and don't need these extra coming, when my income is not getting any increase in years.... • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
I was a victim of a fire on December 20, 2012. My policy amount is 25thousand. I was given 15 thousand, and I'm suppose to collect receipts, spend the right amount and they give me some money back( maybe) I have requested all of my policy money. They say that if my loss adds up to the amount I'll get it. But they have put a good size depreciation amount on everything that it doesn't add up. Ill Never get all my policy amount, and its not right or fair. They say that I have 2 years. That Don't realize how sad this is. I can't do this for all that time.I'm still upset and crying over this. I'm not 25 or 30 years old with a husband, that can start over, I'm 59 years old with a lot of memorabilia that I lost. My daughters report cads, school stuff and pictures. just to scratch the surface.I lost a live Bird. I would just like to start over. I was living in a hotel for two weeks, now I live with my Daughter.I have purchased some things but I wont be able to buy most things until I move out on my own. I also have 2 grown adult daughters. I had a lot of memories in my home. I had to put a value on those things. They put a value on them, But how in the world am I going to replace those things. They can't be replaced. Then I can't purchas... Read More

Approximately 3 1/2 weeks ago my garage cieling fell throwing insulation all over. I have no objects in my attic to cause this. An adjuster came out and stated I had no wind damage or water damage. I have a 2 car garage, however only part of it has come down but the other is just waiting to happen. Since then any contact I have had with them has been only that I contacted them. I have received 3 quotes from $1,800 - $3,000 to fix this. However, once again I called today and was informed that they are not going to cover this as it was not put up with the proper screws. I purchased this home around 20 years ago. I had nothing to do with this installation. I asked if they were going to pay me over my deductible and was told NO. I asked them is this how they operated and that out of all the millions that have to pay for homeowners insurance they are denying claims that have nothing to do with us the homeowners. Does this mean no homes should be sold if they are older than so many years. I was not given a choice to select my carrier, I was given to them by another insurance company. They are saying in my policy it states they do not cover faulty installation. I feel the public should be aware of this as this c... Read More

I have worked in the insurance industry in FL for over 15 years. Unfortunately, most insurance policies do not cover faulty workmanship or general maintance. Also, with the estimates below $5000, it is recommended not to file a claim. These days, insurance is only to be used in catastrophic losses.

Insurance Complaint against: Coventry Health Care
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
Developed Shingles October 2012; United HealthCare, which I had at the time paid every claim, from primary care physician, I had at times 3 appointments per week, and the eye specialist was paid all except one claim which I failed to get prior approval. To the problem - I now have Coventry and they are refusing to pay any of the claims - saying that Shingles was preexisting - I never had Shingles prior to October 2012. It came back or rather never really went away and is in my left eye. I am at a high risk of losing sight in my left eye and this of course concerns me as I am unable to see specialist because I have no money and virtually no insurance coverage. Coventry claims this is pre-existing - coverage switched from UNITED HEALTHCARE to COVENTRY ON 11/01/2012. The total of claims not being paid is now at $977.00. Coventry is concerned that I had no medical coverage from December 1, 2010 - June 1, 2012. (I started at company I am still at on April 23, 2013. My wish is that someone out there in the world wide web will read my story and reach out to me to help me. I do not know what to do. The only time I ever went without medical coverage was from December 1, 2010 - June 1, 2012. And during this time I... Read More
