on February 4th this year I was parked in a CVS. lot and the car to my left was aimed back-word and very close to my car, in relation to the space. I then touched there car with a rubber part of my truck and made no damage. The insurance company would rather pay the claim for $863. and hope they make a new friend and customer with my insurance policy. Very generous, with other peoples money. That causes my rate to go up 20% if I stay with geico the will charge me an additional $900 for 6 months with equals $1800 x three years = $5,400. They admit there is no damage to my car, they paid the claim and when asked they say its best for everyone. There are large horizontal white stripes of paint on the pitches of the other car but no paint missing from my car. they now say that the addition used in the totaling of the claim is Private to the other party. I can't do any of my own investigation without the pitchers and related evidence, requiring me to sue in small claims to get any information about a claim I am paying for. Lewis Lehnus... Read More

I was struck by a car while waiting for the light. The driver of the car accelerated toward the intersection where I was standing. I had to jump out of the way while she jumped the curb hitting the light post knocking it over and ending up in a planter at the end of the road the intersection was a T shaped intersection. unfortunately I wasn't fast enough and she clipped my right foot either with the tire of her car or the light post hit it tearing off my shoe and leaving me injured on the street the police showed up and put me in an ambulance and sent me to the hospital. I have health insurance and the hospital bill and ambulance was very costly needless to say this happened the second week of starting a job in San Juan Capistrano I was injured so I couldn't go back to work for over 6 months. Her insurance company said she wasn't responsible for my injuries do to and unforeseen illness so she wasn't responsible and my insurance company wouldn't even pay for uninsured motorist I believe both companies choose not to compensate this claim because they didn't want to pay for damages which I and she was clearly insured for on both of our policies FRANCIS EDWARD SMITHERAM JR.... Insurance Complaint against: UnitedHealth Group
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
My wife and I are covered by a United Healthcare Plan we obtained for 2015 on the Federal ACA Exchange. We had UHC coverage through our employer 2 years ago, and we thought we'd give them a try, as the premiums were lower, and the coverage seemed comparable to the ACA Exchange plan we had last year (with FL Blue). My wife has been seeing the same doctor since we had UHC coverage, and had an office appointment and lab work scheduled for January, short;ly after we changed to the UHC plan we got through the exchange. About a month later, we received an invoice from the Lab, stating "Your insurance carrier denied payment, indicating the services provided are not covered under your policy". We contacted UHC, and they admit that they denied the claim, and claim that our policy does not provide any out-of-network coverage. It certainly was not clear to us, nor our doctor, nor the lab, nor anyone trying to discover which service providers are in the UHC network by researching their website, that we would have no coverage and be expected to pay 100% of a services ordered by our physician. UHC receives premiums and exchange subsidies, what exactly are they spending them on? Their only job is to pay medical providers for their services, wh... Read More

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I filed a claim on Feb 1, 2015. Was told I was covered and I placed car in USAA approved shop on Feb 4, 2015. On Feb 13, 2015 the date in which car was to be completed I get contacted by rental car company and told that even though my car is not yet finished USAA is not paying for anymore rental. I find out that USAA has canceled my claim and policy and voided the amount paid for the repairs to the shop. The explanation I was given was that my payment of premium check had been returned so they cancelled everything and I would have to pay for my car out of my pocket. They refused to let me reinstate policy and the problem is that they canceled my policy and voided the payment check on Feb 6, 2015, 2 days after making the payment, but I was not notified about this until 7 days later on Feb 13, because of which by the time I was notified it was too late to cancel repairs or make any type of arrangements. Now my car is stuck at the body shop unable to be picked up by me because I dont have the money to pay. The money that USAA was suppose to pay.... Read More

  • General - I feel abused by this company
I filed a claim for tornado damage on 02/10/13 and on the night of 01/21/2014 my home burned to the ground I was displaced. I've had my home rebuilt and moved back into it on 12/06/14 it took so long to rebuild because I had a death in my family one month after I lost my home my oldest son died and it took me a while to get back to finding a contractor. A week or so after moving back home I got a letter from State Farm telling me that they were dropping me because I flied the two claims. Was I not suppose to use the insurance to make repairs caused my nature and a fire that would have killed me and my dog had I not heard the smoke detectors go off around 10:30pm that night. I got out with my life and my dog in 17 degree weather with no shoes or coat only my sleeping cloths. My neighbor gave me the coat and house shoes she had on. I was told by another State Farm agent that got my contact information off line when I was looking for another insurance company to insure my home to contact my local agent. He could possibly help me keep my coverage. I contacted him he said he would check into it and get back to me, that's been two weeks ago so I just called his office again today and was told he is in a meeting and they would tell ... Read More

  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement
Family of 6- We spent Feb 14-April 24 in 1 bedroom hotels or with family. No pod was suggested- all boxes were stored in my garage where it was ozonated. It took us over a year to unpack- My garage now stinks even after 2 years. Appliance inspections-recommendation was for replace, this was not done for any appliances. I have maintained them in a storage facility, which now smells. Insurance scheduled an inspector (their choice)-McKee. The first inspector that was sent in provided guidance saying their was residue and odors and they should repair or replace.Ins.paid to clean only-this was not sufficient(clothing & appliances); need of more cleaning as they still smelled of chemicals and irritating odors we relate to smoke. Insurance sent in 2nd inspector which did wipe tests which would have been useful if performed during the first week or so to determine the path and extent of smoke exposure- why was this not performed initially? No porous surfaces were evaluated and no clothing was taken for analysis- only wipe tests. I was not provided any lab results only a report (which quoted detection limits and methodologies incorrectly). Moved back into our home and still had irritations (nosebleeds, ear/eye/nose/throat problems... Read More

  • Claim Handling - Fraud
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
My step-mom changed my Father's beneficiary when he was in a home for Alzheimer's. The person who reviewed the claim never should have okay'd payment to her the follow mistakes were made: signature doesn't match, first name doesn't match, she listed herself as the employee, etc. MetLife confirms this! Early in the process, they said they couldn't make a decision as a box wasn't checked by the evaluating doctor (this report was done the day he entered the home.) The report did say that he couldn't handle his cash resources, he was incontinent, needed total assistance etc. Around a year later, I was finally able to get the Dr. to check the box that they said was so important to the case. Yet, they claim that they couldn't fully substantiate that fraud was done? Oh the California Department is of no use either. My case is so easy to figure out, i can only guess how people are treated who have more complicated cases. Insurance companies are supposed to fairly evaluate claims, but sadly, dishonest companies like MetLife push the disputes into court knowing that only 2-4% of people will take it that far.... "Fair" reimbursements? If I were you, I'd look into whose making the cash -- it's not the gov. Try pharmaceutical companies. If your boss is playing fairly, and 22 million people are getting help through Obamacare, it would seem that insurance companies, who never should have been at the Obamacare table, are scamming us all. Good luck, and I hope you keep your job. You need to fight the right fight: aspirin in a hospital should not cost $125 p/pill. There are healthcare models in many countries that work. We need to clone those.
