Insurance Complaint against: Allstate
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
We have had some major hail and windstorms in my area in the last 6 months. I hired a roofer to come out and look at my roof and shows major windstorm damage. Had an Allstate adjuster who is from out of state and was not even able to make the decision. He had to take pictures and send them to someone in TX. to look at them and make the decision. That guy was not even here to look at the roof first hand. How can someone make a decision by just looking at pictures. My roofer says there is no way to repair my type of roof it needs to be replaced but Allstate is only willing to repair 56 shingles on my roof which is not possible since repairing will cause more damage to my roof. I am making a complaint with my State Attorney and the State Insurance regulators. Once I get my roof repaired I will be dropping Allstate. I will not recommend Allstate to anyone they do not like to pay out on homeowners claims.... Read More

Unfortunately, most insurance companies are paying for roofing in this manner now in Illinois. They will only pay for the portion of your roof that is actually damaged. I do have a couple insurance companies I contract with who offer endorsements to cover a larger portion if you ever have damage again. I would be more than happy to provide you with a proposal. Please e-mail me if you are interested. shawn@promiseinsurance.com

Insurance Complaint against: Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Cancellation
  • Underwriting - Nonreneweal
  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I had a condo rental policy with Nationwide for 2 years. I informed them at the start this was for a rented unit, but they cancelled my policy because I would not switch my homeowners policy and other business to them. I was supposedly sent a letter a year ago, but never received it and when I called the agent more than a dozen times to inquire about my renewal they failed to call me back until I contacted another agent. They had a record of my calls and lied about notifying me.... Read More

  • PolicyHolder Service - Abusive Service
  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I never like to complain, this company was the most unprofessional business I ever dealt with!!! Rude, talking to me like the tree that went into my house was my fault not the Teaxas Storms that came thru our area. Didnt care I was a customer for over 20 years. Im over 50 and they were suggesting that I should have got on the roof when it happened, and covered up the damage( Even tho the tree removal company, told me it was imposssible that I could have done anything, but extremely dangerous. ..!!!) Rude to no end!!! Told me they woulnt cover( my contents that were damaged) even before they came out and looked at it. Insurance rep said he believed I caused the damage when the over 30 ft tree put the 5 foot limb thru my roof because I didnt cover it!! I cant even tell you everything they have put me through! Just run the other way if someone asks you to be a Farmers Client! I plan on talking to anyone who will listen!! I called the Farmers HelpPoint line to ask for the Texas Insurance Board number. The rep took forever to get me the number and never asked why I asked for it! I asked him, your not even curious why i wanted the number? If its a complaint against your company? The rep stated " I dont care, nothing I could do about it... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Kemper Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Refusal to Insure
  • PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster
  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
  • Marketing & Sales - Misrepresentation
My husband was in an accident 8 months ago, we have a $3000 medical bill that Kemper will not pay. We have been trying to get Kemper to care about us for this long!! They are nothing but disgustinly rude and frustrating and we can not believe that they would rather lose out on the tens of thousands of dollars from us being their customers than pay this $3000 bill. All we get are voicemails and no one ever calls us back. When we do get a person, they refuse to let us speak to someone who will actually care, and give us a run around with different numbers to call which of course all lead to voicemail. They're advertising that you are safe with Kemper but it is a load of crap. They do NOT care about you one bit. Do not be fooled by their false advertising!!... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: OneBeacon
Coverage Type: Business Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I am a small business, and I had taken out loss-of-income insurance with OneBeacon. In April 2011, my entire state was hit with 10 F-5 tornadoes. While my business was not directly hit, one of the tornadoes took out the entire electric grid in the Northern half of the state. There were 60,000 people without electricity for 6 days. Of course, I couldn't operate without electricity, and I lost at least $5000 directly because of this. But OneBeacon denied my claim, saying that it didn't cover downed power lines. Technically, there were no downed power lines anywhere near my business. It was a massive disaster which affected the power grid. I have been unable to find an attorney to take my case. I think not only are they wrong in denying the claim, but they also represent bad faith. I immediately switched insurance companies and am now paying cheaper premiums for better coverage, but we are still feeling the effects of their refusal to pay.... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Nonreneweal
  • General - I feel abused by this company
After 9 years and no claims STATE FARM says they will not renew my homeowners insurance. They are doing this to many people in South Brooklyn because they said we are due for hurricane. I didn't know they have a crystal ball, why don't they give me the lotto numbers. A close friend who had their insurance for 30 years (with NO CLAIMS) was also dropped from STATE FARM. Let's show STATE FARM that Brooklyn does not need them. If you have STATE FARM switch now before they drop you and leave you hanging.... Read More

I have been on the phone several times trying to negotiate, but they say that we have the cost of the insurance to pay. We have a total of $41,078 paid into it. I filed a claim for damage on 13 Aug, and was asked and agreed to take car to Ussa preferred vendors, True-to-Form, which was less than 7 mins from my residence. They appraisal there look at the damaged wheels, and stated he would try to locate a replacement, but indicated he maybe unable to find them. He Stated that, if that was the case, he would replaced them, I had a good insurance company, and they typically would authorize him to do that. He then gave me his business card and instructed to contact them and have them fax the cost of a replacement, if it existed or cost of replacing the rims. I did as he Suggested, and have no idea, what has gotten things to this point. It appears that Ussa thinks I am demanding they replace all four rims, which I am not! However, there suggestion of replacing two wheels On one side is unacceptable as well! There vendor introduced the idea of replacing all wheels, and now I feel I am being portrayed as a customer demanding something, they initially suggested. I want them To pay me a fair price for my claim, and I will find a replacement or a comparable set of rims for my Vehicle. True -to-form should be investigated, they are unethical, and prey on overcharghing insurance Companies, a... Read More

This is why you never want to go to a prefered shop that an insurer suggests you go to for repairs. These shops have agreements with insurers. They have to do repairs for less than a quality shop does in order to be a prefered shop. When they are a prefered shop they cut corners to make up the difference the insurer makes them concess. In the end the customer loses. The next time you have a claim look for a shop that has no ties to an insurance company, and you will get treated fairly and end up with a quality repair.
