John's complaint:
May 27, 2013

Insurance Company: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High

Last year my homeowners policy doubled, $2,355.00, this is outrageous. I am disabled, on a fixed income. I had to reduce my coverage so I would have some coverage. I am very upset because we have had State Farm for alot of years. This is completely wrong for any company to charge DOUBLE ANNUAL PREMIUMS. I WOULD LIKE TO STAY WITH STATE FARM WITH COVERAGE I HAD BEFORE, BUT IT IS VERY HARD TO PAY THIS NEW PRICE, AND THEN TO REDUCE MY COVERAGE. This is very hard to understand, WHY. Don't tell me because it was OK'd by the Governor.

John, Shop around for a new carrier. We understand you would like to stay with a carrier you have been with for years but it is our experience that State Farm is very difficult to deal with when it comes to claims so you may want to consider going elsewhere if you can save some money. Have a good broker look into this for you.
