Michael's complaint:
August 02, 2012

Insurance Company: GEICO
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • Underwriting - Cancellation
  • Underwriting - Forced Placement

My famaily & I just relocated from TX to MI and I started making inquiries re: auto insurance in MI. I contacted Geico and other major competetors to locate the best rates. During my earlier research, I recieved an emailed quote from Geico, but was not happy with the rate and continued my search. We recently recieved an email from Geico indicating there were rate changes in MI, and we should contact customer service. This was the reason for my latest contact with Geico on Thursday 7/26/12.
On my initial phone call, I spoke with a pleasant lady in the MI office; she began researching the rate options and things were going well. However, before we could confirm the amounts, the phone call was disconnected. I waited to see if she would call me back, however she did not. So I called again. On my 2nd call I got a customer service representative who's quote was almost twice as high to the original quote, so I informed her that I was not interested and would continue his research elsewhere. She indicated that this was the best rate available, even though it was approximately $1300 more than the one I'd received just a few hours before so I terminated the conversation.
Within an hour, we recieved an email from Geico indicating that our TX policy was terminated, at our request, and a MI policy was issued. At this pont, I contacted Geico's office and asked to speak with a manager and was transfered to Kelvin Clark. This "manager" simply made excuses and implied that my wife and I were liars. He informed me that there were no other supervisory personell available in MI, so I left a very specific message for his supervisor, Dave Carlee, to contact me on Friday morning. It is now Thursday, 8/32/12 and I have not received a call or email from any Geico representatives.
This is unaccepable. I would also like to submit a formal complaint regarding the changes made to my policy without my authorization.
Please advise ASAP. Thanks.

This is an outrage! I have had problems with Geico with rate increases. Hopefully when they hear about this website, they will improve their corrupt ways!
