  • PolicyHolder Service - Inadequate Reimbursement

Family of 6- We spent Feb 14-April 24 in 1 bedroom hotels or with family.
No pod was suggested- all boxes were stored in my garage where it was ozonated. It took us over a year to unpack- My garage now stinks even after 2 years.
Appliance inspections-recommendation was for replace, this was not done for any appliances. I have maintained them in a storage facility, which now smells.
Insurance scheduled an inspector (their choice)-McKee. The first inspector that was sent in provided guidance saying their was residue and odors and they should repair or replace.Ins.paid to clean only-this was not sufficient(clothing & appliances); need of more cleaning as they still smelled of chemicals and irritating odors we relate to smoke. Insurance sent in 2nd inspector which did wipe tests which would have been useful if performed during the first week or so to determine the path and extent of smoke exposure- why was this not performed initially? No porous surfaces were evaluated and no clothing was taken for analysis- only wipe tests. I was not provided any lab results only a report (which quoted detection limits and methodologies incorrectly).
Moved back into our home and still had irritations (nosebleeds, ear/eye/nose/throat problems, and diagnosis of kidney malfunctions for several weeks). Consolidated furniture downstairs-Symptoms persisted and I moved it outside. Finally,Insurance agreed to get a pod. Insurance agreed to clean my furniture-some cleaning cost more than new- Insurance said they had paid for the cleaning once and that was it.Furniture still contaminates clothes.
Computer and electronics were cleaned. The computer equipment has failed (screens are jumping and erratic), hard drives are not opening and a brand new Dell external hard drive lost all of the data, and will not longer upload data.
6. We went to the doctor many times to combat symptoms of smoke irritant exposure.
