I had a hail damage claim on 6/24/2015. Everything went well except when my roofing contractor said my sheathing needed to be graded up to code. I called Allstate to see if I was covered for this which was about $1600 more. After many calls to the claims department, they finally answered the phone. They said that wasn't a part of my policy. I have been with Allstate for over 20 years with 2 minor claims for less than $3000. My rates have increased every year with an increase of about $250 per year in 2015. I tried to contact my agent and I still haven't heard from him. All they want to do is sign up new clients after that your on your own. They know I have an older house so it is inevitable I need code upgrades on a claim. Yes, I am somewhat to blame, but they have never contacted me about anything. Needless to say I have to pay $1600 out of my own pocket. I've been a good customer, they could have at least helped me out. No flexibility whatsoever. Allstate motto is "Your in Good Hands with Allstate". Until you have to file a claim.
