Gwen's complaint:
December 24, 2014

Insurance Company: Coventry Health Care
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim

I am writing on behalf of my Mother who lived in an assisted living facility in DuBois, Pa. In that facility she fell and broke her hip. She was sent to the hospital where she had surgery to put screws in the break. A social worker there contacted Mom's Health insurance to facilitate a rehab session in a nursing home . The insurance approved this request. The Dr had said 6 week rehab.
So I get a call that her insurance company cancelled coverage after 20 days. I sent in an appeal and was denied. How do these things happen after a company approves a stay and then cancels coverage???
My Mother is 91 yrs old and does not deserve this kind of treatment. How is the average person to pay for this stuff? I thought Obama Care was to fix just situations. No one can be denied for a condition.
Now a new insurance is taking over Jan . 1st. What are we to do now? Who do we complain to?
