I recently moved from CA to ID and ordered insurance from Foremost Insurance Group. I had their insurance for 10 days until I found better coverage at almost half the cost from the Hartford Co. Foremost charged me $102 for 10 days of home owner insurance after canceling. I sold my house in CA for 4 times what I paid for my new home yet Foremost charged me $623 for 1 year service. I call this overcharging/gouging.

Foremost is a specialty insurance company who generally insures high-risk dwellings. They charge more on general basis. Definitely shop around in advance and understand all of the provisions of your insurance policy. Many companies will charge you fees to cancel.
