I have spent three months living in a chaotic environment during the worst time of my surgical recovery while caring for my children. I had my Achilles tendon repaired in February from a complete tare and the recovery has been difficult and due to the negligence of MEEMIC, it has been nearly impossible.
My kitchen was almost completely removed from the flood damage as you can see from the pictures and I was forced to move back into my uninhabitable home; I was told that my housing expenses would not cover anything past the mitigation. Additionally, nothing has been done to provide me with any ability to make the home habitable and my additional living expenses have been withheld. I have been trying to cook as much as I can with a griddle and very small microwave that I purchased after the flood. Last week I broke down and bought laundry tub so I could at least have running water in my kitchen area. Since February I have been doing dishes and clean up from the bathroom while disabled (cast, crutches, rolling knee scooter, and eventually walking boot). Having to buy partially prepared meals, limited items, and eating out a lot has put a financial and emotional hardship on me and my children.
I have been compliant with everything that MEEMIC asked me to do; even MEEMICs investigator agreed to that statement. I even sat through a one on one interrogation for an hour and a half in much pain, even though I was on heavy medication. Yet after all of my actions in good faith I have been treated as if I am a piece of garbage or a criminal. I am a contributor to the community; I serve as a school board trustee, ran for state representative, elected as a precinct delegate for the Democratic Party, active in local clubs, have served in Public Schools for 16 years, volunteer and donate to charity, and am firm in my faith. I have never been treated with such disregard to my childrens and my safety, life, and stability. I am appalled and shaken by their treatment. I have been a policy holder with MEEMIC since 1997 (except when I lived in Florida 2000-2002). I already suffer from high anxiety/stress (I am treated by my PCP) and have begun to have issues with my blood pressure due to this ordeal.
I am at a complete loss as to what is happening and this has put great strain on me as a person. The unprofessional way in which this has been dealt with has heightened my stress and I finally broke down when my public adjuster explained how much way done wrong. Furthermore, I was lied to and mislead by all three MEEMIC representatives:
Jim: He reassured me several times that the contents issue was what was holding the claim up and specifically if the guns and ammo had not been thrown away we would be fine. He said everything else was fine on the contents sheet and even though he would have done things different, as soon as the guns and ammo are settled we would be fine. The guns and ammo were found in the garage after I was put in a walking boot, nothing changed. His story changed, he said he assumed there werent too many contents and that I should have known how to fill out the forms and somehow known to inform him of how many contents and amount before I received the sheets and no instruction. He said I should have saved anything above a $150 and I should have known this because I had a fire in 2006 (State Farm insured my house then). Neither he nor Michael gave me any instructions as to how to complete the forms or what to do with contents. The instructions I was given where like reprimands, stating I should have done it a different way. As you can see from the letter (PDF 6) that came with the contents sheet, after most contents were disposed of, there are minimal instructions and the dumpster that the adjuster Michael watched contents being thrown into and even instructed me to get rid of the couch too, was gone. I had requested the contents forms and instruction the first day
of the complaint because the basement where most things were needed to be cleaned. I asked by phone, email, and in person.
Michael: He told me I had to move back into my house or I would have to take hotel expenses out of the capped mold money and he said the house was inhabitable without a kitchen and mold everywhere. My policy clearly states that my housing is unlimited up to 12 months. My children should never have moved back into a house with mold and a torn out kitchen with exposed wiring. He and Jim also said the mold money was approved for the full $10,000 and all the mitigation and flood damage was covered and the check would be released soon to Alsobrook and Associates. They even said the plumbing bill would be covered and gave me reassurance time and again that everything would be fine and I actually praised them.
Sandy: She never informed me that there was any investigation or that I would be drilled for 1 hours. She said she was coming over to look at the house and talk to me about the claim. She said to me before and during the interview that I had to answer questions even though I said things were irrelevant and/or part of my personal life. This was a horrible nightmare. I repeated to her time and again that I was having memory issues, I was on intense pain medication (Vicodin 10, Percocet, and Codeine 3), uncomfortable, and in pain constantly. Yet she continually asked me to state times and dates and precisely what I was doing. I told her I did not remember much and even if I did that my recall both long and short term was a severe problem. So she would just ask the question another way and get me to commit to a time frame even though I told her I wasnt sure. It was like she was coaching me into answers.
MEEMIC has been completely unreasonable during the process of this claim. At no time should we have been forced back into my home without a kitchen and the area having mold and wires exposed (my youngest daughter is 8 and has asthma and bad allergies as do I). At no time should the entire claim have been held up because of questions about the contents. At no time should the approved work not been paid for leaving the contractor the option of placing a lien on my home. At no time should the additional living expenses money been held putting myself and my children at risk. At no time were instructions given on how/what to do with the contents sheets. At no time was a contents company offered, a cleaning company was offered. And at no time should my family suffer the inability to have a home cooked meal or guests over to entertain. We have been in this situation for three months, this should have been completed in a few weeks.

ඕක පටන් අරන් තියෙන්නෙ මෙහෙමයි..In Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1392), the Nun's Priest's Tale is set Syn March bigan thritty dayes and two. Chaucer lrpbaboy meant 32 days after March, i.e. May 2, the anniversary of the engagement of King Richard II of England to Anne of Bohemia, which took place in 1381. However, readers apparently misunderstood this line to mean March 32, i.e April 1. In Chaucer's tale, the vain cock Chauntecler is tricked by a fox.In 1508, a French poet referred to a poisson d’avril (April fool, literally April fish ), a possible reference to the holiday. In 1539, Flemish poet Eduard de Dene wrote of a nobleman who sent his servants on foolish errands on April 1. In 1686, John Aubrey referred to the holiday as Fooles holy day , the first British reference. On April 1, 1698, several people were tricked into going to the Tower of London to see the Lions washed. The name April Fools echoes that of the Feast of Fools, a Medieval holiday held on December 28.In the Middle Ages, New Year's Day was celebrated on March 25 in most European towns. In some areas of France, New Year's was a week-long holiday ending on April 1. So it is possible that April Fools originated because those who celebrated on January 1 made fun of those who celebrated on other dates. The use of January 1 as New Year's Day was common in France by the mid-sixteenth century, and this date was adopted officially in 1564 by the Edict of Roussillon. In the eighteenth century the festival was often posited as going back to the time of Noah. According to an English newspaper article published in 1789, the day had its origin when Noah sent his dove off too early, before the waters had receded; he did this on the first day of the Hebrew month that corresponds with April.
