Flood insurance relating to superstorm Sandy and our primary residence since 1968. From The claim filed the early AM after the occurrence, it has been one night mare after another to the point that 7 months after we still have no answers. The initial complaint started with the "oops" when the company failed to assign an adjuster in the timely manner they were supposed to do, resulting in our claim being at the bottom of the list. Then contact was made with what I now consider a totally incompetent adjuster (as well as other contacts on the flood team)who made promises of $5000.00 start , as if this did anything, the heating system and electrical was over$11,000. This number does not include the restoration or remediation process. It was 6 weeks before we to received above promised funds. In the meantime we are working all daylight hours plus trying to get our daughter and grandchildren back. We felt it was as bad as it could get and then came the adjuster, George Echols, which made it horrendous. He gave us so much misinformation that it became necessary to gat a public adjuster! Now 7 months later, our file has been in the hands of at least 3 Allstate adjusters with no response other than stalling tactics which are continually addressed. Our neighbors have all been settled MONTHS ago with out all this to do and I am at my wit's end, placed on medication, pacing and anxious all the time. We have lived up to our end of the contract, having paid our premiums for years but no one seems to care about us. We have had to use the money we got from selling the "retirement" house that was to augment our golden years (at a tremendous loss, thanks to the economy!)that would have then given us the finances to recast our mortgage so that we may survive on our limited retirement income. The mortgage rates have gone up and we pay approximately $1500.00 monthly because we have used the money for restoration that would have lowered our payments. So far this amounts to about $7500.00 with more looming in sight as we have received no resolution and our public adjuster is having no luck with the current adjuster. These were to be our golden years so far not good. Have had Allstate for well over 30 years! No longer feel we are in "good hands"! Now we will be forced into yet another avenue we did not want to pursue. Isn't there anyone who cares? Have done all that we were asked to do, including filing with the NJ insurance board. Some called many weeks later and informed us that "this has been a catastrophe", seems an inappropriate remark to someone who is living through it! In our area, stress is on getting the tourist attractions working but a resident as no chance! We are among the silver citizens who do not want to end our days fighting for what should have been taken care of months ago. Perhaps, some respect or concern would have been appropriate! Diane Cucci
