  • General - I feel abused by this company

At a baseball game, a foul ball was hit and broke thru the sunroof on my vehicle. Leaving shards and splinters of glass all over the interior. I immediately made a police report for insurance purposes. That Monday, I called my insurance company to file a claim. I carry full coverage insurance which included 100% glass coverage. However, a sunroof is not considered glass.
Mr. Nicola did not return our call promply. When he finally did, he instructed us to sue the church since it happened on their property. Next he told us to sue the school, then told us to sue the child that hit the foul ball.
After much of the "run around" we were finally granted permission to get estimated on the damage. We first called the local dealer, and they came to the house and did an estimate. The total estimate was for over $800, not including cleaning the glass out of the interior and that was for a "used part" to be used as replacement. We were finally granted permission for the vehicle to be towed to the shop to have an estimate.
The second dealer gave an estimate for a new part to be used and it was for $2500, and $859 for a used part. Once these were submitted to the insurance, they basically called us all LIARS. They said that none of our estimates were good and they were going to send their adjuster out to give his estimates.
During his first visit the adjuster insulted the dealership and its employees, by telling them that they didn't know what they were doing and that it would not cost more than $400 to completely replair the sunroof. and that the frame of the sunroof was not bent. On his 2nd visit to the dealership, this adjuster told the dealership that they were lying about the frame being bent and they could fix it with a hammer. And it did not matter if the sunroof worked or not, and they were not going to put new parts on a used car.
At this point the only thing that the insurance has covered is the tow to the dealer. We are extremely dissatisfied with this company! We feel that the insurance should not have treated us this way as we have been a faithful customer for over 10 years, never having a claim before this. We feel that this insurance agent completely misrepresented us and was not "LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR"
We feel as though this insurance company should pay for all of the repair and also for the pain and suffering we have endured over the past 2 weeks.
