Last April 2010, my husband received a speeding ticket in Highlands County Florida. He paid the ticket and enrolled in a traffic class to avoid points on his license. He sent in his proof/paperwork. In August of 2010, he received a notice from Highlands County that his license had been suspended because he did not submit his paperwork related to the ticket. After several phone calls, it was determined that they had suspended his license because they needed an original of the class certificate, not a copy. He then had to drive down to Highlands County to present the original and pay fines to reinstate his license.
Our automobile insurance, Mercury Insurance of Florida through Most Insurance, LLC, was up for renewal this April. When they ran a routine background check, the suspension showed up on his record. Our monthly rate then increased from $316.00 to $668.00. The Most Agency had looked into this, however, Mercury will not consider the circumstances and waive their rules. Apparently, a license suspension with Mercury is weighted the same as a DUI. Please advise if there is anything we can do to strike this from his driving record or get Mercury to waive their policy. Of course, I have as much of a problem with Highlands County as well by not being cooperative, due to the circumstances and not taking the suspension off the record. It was clearly a technicality. No laws were broken that led to a suspension.

That's so unfair what's happening to your husband! It's horrible how these insurance companies can get away with increasing rates more than double.
