My 15 lb dog bit me 4 years ago and the company said they would not insure me because he might bite someone else. This was from Sarvey Insurance Brokers in Punxsutawnrey PA She said none of their companies would insure me. I explained how it happened that it was my fault but I don't know how this employee explained it to whoever she talked to. I have to tell everyone I know that if you are honest it does not pay. I have insurance but wanted to change. Just wanted other people to know this. It never came up in my 40 years of having insurance.

I will tell you that this is consistent with Erie's policy. Dog bite history is a huge liability and most insurance companies will not write you if you tell them the dog bit you. Being honest is still the right thing to do, but insurance companies assess risk. In their mind, any incident with a dog is risky. Your dog may never bite anyone again, but most are not willing to take that risk.
