I have maligned patellas. I have tried non invasive methods of dealing with them since 1999. I have had gel injections, steroid injections, physical therapy,arthroscopy lateral release. In 2013 my right knee was so painful it was crippling me. United healthcare was terrific and Mayo clinic did a patellofemoral arthroplasty on it. The results were fabulous. Now 2017 and the left knee is very painful. Aetna has refused to allow me any surgical relief. I wish I could show you the picture of my knee!! It's so bad!!
