Insurance Company: Hartford
Coverage Type: Life Insurance
- Underwriting - Cancellation
In order to keep a 14 year old life insurance policy that was running out of cash value I dropped the face value to a lower level. The Hartford didn\'t properly reduce the premium and caused the policy to be canceled for non payment. For 14 years the premiums were drafted from a checking account and The Hartford stopped drafting when the draft amount wasn\'t sufficient to cover the incorrect higher premium.
The new premium was to be $945 per month and the draft was $1,083.33...easily covering the new lower face value.
I have spent 7 phone calls amounting to about 5 hours of holding and conversations and have never gotten to speak to the same person twice. The Hartford did a review and was to re-instate the policy but after a 2 1/2 month period I was sent a letter that the re-instatement was denied.
All they want to do is to drop a policy on my 96 year old mother and avoid the eventual claim....sad, but like all parasites they like collecting premiums but look for ways to avoid their responsibility!
