Insurance Company: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Rude/Abusive Adjuster
  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer

My vehicle was involved in a situation that took place at a retirement home, last August 9, 2015. State Farm's insured, hit eight vehicles in the parking lot, while a birthday celebration was going on inside the building. My 2010 Cadillac CTS was one of the vehicles hit. My Insurance company, Travelers, handled the repairs (Subrogated Claim). The repairs were made and I ask my Insurance company about the Diminished Value brought about by the accident. I was instructed to deal direct with the Insurance company at fault, which was State Farm. I filed the claim and was told that they would bet back with me shortly. After not hearing, I called numerous times, I finally was able to talk to someone and was told that an adjuster would get in touch with me. A few weeks later, a person by the name of Coswello Fair called and said that I needed to get appraisal estimates concerning the dimished value from several dealerships and send it to them, which I did. I visited two dealerships and got their opinions in writing and sent them to State Farm. I never received a response, so I called and after leaving ten messages I was finally able to talk to Mrs. Fair. She said she didn't receive the appraisals, I sent them a second time. Not hearing as told, I talked to another agent and ask that He personally deliver the message to Mrs. Fair to call me. I even wrote a letter to the CEO of State Farm hoping that this issue would be resolved...but to no avail. I simply requested a reasonable Fair "Diminished Value "payment. Weeks passed and Mrs. Fair called me only after I contacted the State of S.C. Insurance commissioner. I was told that they would pay $1,400.00 against the estimates of from $3,500 to $5,000. I agreed to accept $3,000. and was told that they would let me know shortly. I have heard nothing and it has been two weeks. Let me preface this by saying: I was a new car Dealer for 40 years and have given many people estimates on the depreciated value of cars after they were involved in wrecks. The Insurance company is simply stalling and hoping that I will go away. I don't intend to do so. Beware of STATE FARM............PAY YOUR PREMIUMS, DON'T HAVE A CLAIM AND YOU'RE A GOOD CUSTOMER. Other wise they could care less about being reasonable and working in a timely manner.
